All inclusive for a newbie?

Hi, looking for some help as I am honestly shocking at finding holidays!

We are very much a camping, snowboarding family and pre our son we would go abroad for bed/breakfast and eat out etc. Next Easter though, I think I’d like to do an easy holiday!

I’d really want nice food and drink included, something for a 5 year old but wouldn’t need a kids club. More like a park and a nice pool. Somewhere that will be warm. Somewhere relaxing!

I’ve searched so much and lots are coming out at £3-4k and I’m just reluctant to spend the money on something I have no experience of. We are very much a ‘don’t mind spending the money if it’s worth it’ kind of mindset and I don’t want to commit to something, spend thousands and then end up disappointed!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look for a hotel which has multiple restaurants (not just a buffet) and is within walking distance of a resort centre so you can escape the hotel and soak up the local vibes. If budget allows, get a room with two sleeping areas.

DS had a very disappointing AI in Turkey. The icecream bar opened briefly and then closed. If you weren't standing in the queue at the right time, you didn't get icecream. The food was repetitive and poor.

A cruise can be good for that- lots of places to eat, good food, lots of ship to explore.

If you want warm in April you’re looking long hall, or carnaries or cape verde. Still check the air temps and you may need a heated pool.

Start with destination - at Easter your biggest challenge is finding the warmth.

I would add Morocco to the pp's list. There is Southern Spain but a gamble (and failed for us this year!). Pools will be cool still if not heated if you go short haul.

Then filter by price as to what is in your budget.

Then read, read, read, all the write ups and photos you can find on all the package holiday sites, all the reviews you can find on those and trip advisor.

Unless you want long haul look at the canaries. There are plenty of decent AIs but you need 4* minimum. It's very much you get what you pay for.
I could recommend Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park. We stayed half board in the adults only wing but the food was excellent. It's a beautiful sea front location near a beach.
I don't know if the children's pool is heated, you should check wherever you go because Easter may be warm and sunny but the water is cold.

We did the holiday village in Turkey last year. DD loved the food. The buffet was fantastic and there were 3 Al la Carte too
Lots of areas away from the main pool. Some hidden quiet pools and the grounds are stunning. Beach isn't brilliant though it's a weird grey sand
We had a room by the hidden pools which had a separate sleeping area for DD.

How do you feel about Egypt? It will be nice and warm at Easter and there are some really good 5* resorts. We like all inclusive but you have to spend money to get a good one.

Sunpiercer · 07/07/2024 17:21

Look at the TUI Holiday Villages for everything child-friendly. Splash pools, slides, kids club / entertainment, high ropes, etc

Funkyslippers · 07/07/2024 17:54

Barut B Suites in Side, Turkey was perfect for us

maw1681 · 07/07/2024 18:08

In Easter you probably want canaries for warmth.
I recommend Jet2, had 2 good AI holidays with them and they usually have free child places.
I always read Tripadvisor reviews before booking, you do need to take some with a pinch of salt but I wouldn't go anywhere AI that is less than 4/5 Tripadvisor rating

I can recommend Lanzarote. Fantastic climate. Beautiful island, national parks, beaches - even a volcano! Great all inclusives. We loved Los Zocos and Gran Tagoro. Plenty to do, near wonderful beaches, bikes to hire, interesting places to visit. We went loads when the kids were small. All inclusive is fantastic for families - everyone can eat what they want and opt in or out to whatever suits. You’ll have a blast.
