TUI broken pram

Does anyone have any experience with Tui and broken items?

I came home from holiday last night and my son's buggy is missing the bumper bar. I noticed it as soon as it came off the carousel and reported it to the baggage department.

The bar was definitely on it when it was loaded onto the plane as we handed it over at the steps and it's the handle essentially.

Baggage have logged it as a missing item and I photographed it then and there. They said if it doesn't turn up we have to raise a claim with TUI.

Will Tui pay for a replacement bar? I don't think you can just buy a bar. Will they cover the cost of a new buggy?

I have the receipt for the buggy it was purchased 2 years ago.

I read TUI may not accept responsibility and I would have to claim my travel insurance.

Does anyone have any experience of this happening?

You can probably find one on eBay if you don't want the hassle of trying to claim.

@Jk987 I had a look but nothing matching the model

Have you emailed the manufacturer? Most will sell individual parts if you ask. You could then forward that to TUI.

I doubt Tui will be interested, their Customer Service is poor.

I thought baggage handling is usually done by airport staff rather than airline employees ? So between Tui & the 2 airports passing the buck, I would guess your insurance will be the answer.

It's rubbish on the part of Tui, but you can still use the buggy without a bumper bar.

RosiePosey33 · 06/07/2024 19:13

@TheBirdintheCave it's. Chicco one and they don't trade in the UK anymore.

I contacted the shop I got it from too and even they said they couldn't source one as they don't deal with Chicco anymore.

@Toddlerteaplease I can use it but the bar is essentially the handle to carry it when it's folded so it's useless without it.

I bought it to take on and off public transport.

You'll probably have to claim on your travel insurance. Depending on the policy excess it may be cheaper to buy a new buggy altogether.

It's rubbish but it's the risk you take when you travel. Some people purchase cheap version for exactly this reason.

I had a wheel snap off my buggy on arrival in Tenerife a few years ago. Luckily there was a brilliant hire company over there and I managed to get one for the week. Still had to struggle on the way home through and then purchase a new one. We got all the documents for the insurance claim but it wasn't worth it.
