Oh, nearly forgot the other thing i have been wandering about. What would you take in way of food for a week in a villa?
I have an 8mth babe and currently weaning, he is quite good with food but hasn't taken to jar food. Any suggestions?

are you doing puree or finger foods? imo best thing is to get on with normal food and give that. ie pasta, veg, sandwiches. where are you going on holiday?

i'd plan on using a lot of mushed bananas and making sandwiches

plus i'd take several of the ellas kitchen foil sachets as they're easy to pack

Potato is good and travels well, mash it if you are doing purees, give it in chip shaped chunks (boiled or steamed) if blw. Also bread based stuff if doing finger foods.

Bananas are fab as takeaway snacks, humzinger sticks are long life and should travel fairly well. Will he/she eat rice pudding? - can get individual pots that don't need a fridge.

bit of an x-post with Tutter.

If eating out, it is likely that your lo will be able to have bits off your plates. dd2 nearly fell out of her highchair with excitement when offered some soft naan bread at 6.5 months.

thanks for these suggestions. going to a villa in the algarve, can't wait as need a bit of sunshine, but i have a feeling we are going to need to do alot of planning with what to take. At what point is it ok to give LO what we eat. He has started to have 'lumpy food' and gets on fine with it, but worried about salt etc....

Organix do some good thigs we take on picnics ds2 is 7.6mths. Why dont you take a hand blender - small to pack, then buy local fruit/veg which you could peel/steam at the villa then blitz.

box of organix baby weetabix for breakfast, ellas kitchen for lunch, steamed local delight for dinner. Then other finger foods for snacks in between. Banana/toast/biscotti/rusk/whatever.
