Legoland in Denmark

I'm thinking of taking kids (tween & teen) to Legoland Denmark (both love Lego).

Has anyone done this? Any tips on how to get there/when to go/what to see/where to stay?

Tia

The airport is about a mile from Legoland... its very easy to get to.

Following. I went there as a child and had a brilliant time. However that was 30 odd years ago now and I’m sure a lot has changed!

There are already several threads about Legoland in Billund, Denmark.

Easiest way to get there is to fly to Billund. There are flights from a number of UK airports with Ryanair and BA.

Billund is a really small place and easy to get around. With teens you can easily walk to most places. In summer there is a shuttle bus that runs around the town linking the hotels, airport and attractions. As well as Legoland there is also the brilliant Lego House, which is worth a whole day in itself, particularly as the kids are older and can spend time in the animation studio and other interactive areas.

There are hotels such as the Lego Hotel or the Billund Airport Hotel, or Lalandia which also has pools, a water park etc.

We went in May half term, which is not school holidays there, so the queues were non existent which was great!

We went in April. My kids (I have two tweens) are huge Lego fans so it was a trip of a lifetime for them to go to the home of Lego. Lego House is amazing and we did mini-chef there.

We stayed in the Legoland hotel to get the full Lego experience but lots of people stay in Lalandia which is like a Danish centerparcs. We spent a day in the Aquadome there as well- it was full of Danish teens the day we went.

There's loads of other things to do as well, it's basically a town dedicated to children and Lego fans! And most things are within walking distance.

There's a Facebook page called Billund for Brits - loads of tips and advice there.

Go to LegoHouse (in the same area) which is vastly better than legoland. Legoland is a rather tired theme park that is no longer owned by or linked to lego itself.

LegoHouse is built by the Lego company and you can actually build lots of Lego and play with their new augmented reality Lego games and all sorts of good things. Really impressive.
