Just booked this for a 3 night break in August. Without kids.

Will we love it? Looks super pricey!!

MIL about to look it up on internet and am embarrassed as she will see the room rates.

oh dear, am regretting it now....

Am thinking should have booked somewhere with no kids. This place could be full of kids which could be a nnoying since we will be without ours!

Anyway a minor problem in the grands scheme of things I suppose.

you will be overrun by yummy mummies and their vile offspring

WideWebWitch · 09/04/2008 13:00

have never been but want to.
3 whole nights, bliss.

Tutter · 09/04/2008 13:01

oooh i would head somewhere that bans kids if i were to go without mine

am sure it will be a delight though

Flum · 09/04/2008 13:02

I think I want to go for something a bit more down to earth, less likely to be kids. Not too fussed about spa anyway as am up the duff so can't Sauna or jacuzzi.

any recommendations?

i am a scrummy mummy so would fit in on that frongt

oh no it will be great I'm sure I was only kidding!

ahundredtimes · 09/04/2008 13:08

It is super pricey - and to be completely honest I'm not sure it is worth it. Would be worth it to have a bit of glamour with toddlers in tow - but I wouldn't go here if it was just us.

Is lovely - but not that great, and much too expensive, I think for what it is. Which is basically a slice of London in the countryside.

Am sure you could do better for the two of you.

It's fab

room1 & 5 especially

We used to go a couple of times a year pre ds & Christmas there was lovely

I went about 5 years ago before we had kids but with a couple of friends who brought their two. It was fabulous. I wasn't really aware of many children running around and they all eat at a 'tea' so are not around in the restaurant. But it was not during summer holidays. I'm sure that will increase the numbers. It was super pricey but really worth it. Also, when we were there Jamie Oliver was filming the end of his series 15 there and there was a gala meal put on by his trainees which we went to. The food was amazing and we got blotto! I think the tickets were only £40 each so it was a bargain considering how much we drank!

I have only been pre-kids but I loved it. Lovely rooms, lovely grounds, lovely spa. Great food. All very luxurious and stylish. You will have a great time. I never saw it overrun with kids.

Flum · 09/04/2008 13:15

mmmm have started another thread of what am looking for. I think DH migh tlike the spa. He will be bored anyway as will be missing his Cricket match and fishing day. Oh well is only ONE weekend out of the summer, hopefully he will enjoy being with me.

One of my fave places www.drunkenduckinn.co.uk/here. Down to earth but gorgeous place... Yummy food, beautiful surroundings, lovely rooms, not extortionate. We went when I was 7 months pg and really enjoyed it. The best rooms can be booked up to 6 months in advance for a weekend night though ..

TillyScoutsmum · 09/04/2008 13:19

DrunkinDuck looks gorgeous but too far from us. I get travel sick so try to minimise the drive. We have to get kids from Cornwall on Monday so want something between us and them

Sorry - just noticed your other thread... Drunken Duck is definately NOT between Wiltshire and Cornwall (unless you get really lost ) Have posted on your other thread as well
