Best place to take five year old?

Left it a bit late but DP and I were trying to think of where to take DC on holiday this summer, if we do actually go anywhere. Neither of us want to do a Majorca type holiday and DP says no to Disney, where would you recommend with a five year old that will actually be entertaining for him? We have a 7 year old too but less worried as she's older to enjoy a wider range. Any advice would be so welcome!

Honestly, Butlins. It might be your idea of a holiday from hell, but I know someone who has taken their children to Disney World (Florida), and yet the kids still think Butlins was the best holiday ever. Grin

Or Netherlands Centerparc. The children's clubs for that age are lovely!

Came on to say this

Or a Eurocamp, France. Northwest if you want cooler, further south if you want warmer

DD's favourite was Cornwall.

Eurocamp / Siblu

Center Parcs (UK or France or Netherlands); cottage or holiday park on UK coast depending on where you are - my favourites are Dorset, Somerset, South or West Wales, but anywhere with a beach, farm park, kid-friendly walks or bike rides and kid-friendly places to eat would do it, anything else is a bonus. Or Peak District or New Forest or Northumberland.

Germany
depending what you want, you have the sea side or mountains and everything in between.

Castles, theme parks, lakes, zoos, indoor water parks, outdoor swimming pools, lovely playgrounds

We spent holidays with DD between 5-8 in Germany and never were bored.

Eurocamp or a gite in the Dordogne.

MayoMayoMayo · 23/06/2024 22:07

Yep Eurocamp. We did Sandaya near La Rochelle last year and 5yr old DS had an amazing time.
