I can never make my mind up and end up just flipping between x and y and not booking anything

  • Flying from any London airport
  • 7 days at any point in the last 2 weeks of July/beginning of August
  • Guaranteed sun (as far as possible)
  • Happy to book flights/hotel separately
  • All inclusive or full board
  • £1500 or less
  • 1 adult 1 9 year old

Does that sound possible?

There are a handful of options if you put those details and budget into Jet2 holidays from Stansted. We are big fans of jet2 and the package includes everything including transfers. Hope you find something amazing!

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 22/06/2024 21:19

I use easyJet holidays as they are reliable and well… easy.

I searched on 23rd July +-3 days, stuck any London airport, AI and 4star plus and there were a good few options… mess around with dates as you might get a bargain

Can filter in price too

Have a look at Rui Olivia in the canaries ( futurventura)
it’s a old style hotel ( think Butlins in the 80s 😂 ) but very clean and

the location is amazing right on the beach and I mean you walk out of the hotel and your on the beach no promenade the hotel is actually built on the beach 😂

3 star decent food ( I’m picky and found plenty to eat )
friend is a veggie and had no complaints

lots of returning clients because it’s cheap & cheerful
when I stayed there 70 percent were returning guests
the staff are lovely and they have a great entertainment team for kids from my memory

30 mins transfer from the airport with Tui

it’s not luxury but you won’t get luxury with your budget but it’s basic & clean and if your with your kids they will have a great time

I went for two weeks AI and paid 2k in July last year
1week last week of July is 1650 from London airports
so a bit more than your budget but well worth it .

you can get the bus to the main resort for 1.80 euros one way and there is a supermarket 5 mins walk away and a shop at the hotel

you have choice of the annex ( huge rooms like mini apartments )
or the main hotel but either are fine
Free wifi in pool / reception area but not in the rooms

and in July / August it will be scorching hot

Second the Easyjet and Jet2holidays recommendations. Jet2 in particular have good search/filter tools that mean you can put in your requirements/date/airport and reduce the search results to a sensible number.

I then filter by Trip Advisor 4 and above to filter out the real dross, search by price low to high and work my way up the list from the cheapest until I find something that looks nice in a relatively central location so we can walk to the beach, restaurants, supermarket etc.

Booking separately won't necessarily be any cheaper and you'll have to work out how to get to and from the airport.

From London, also look at BA Holidays.

Last minute.com is also good for research, as it gives flight+hotel option combinations, starting with the lowest easyJet/Ryanair + hand luggage only.

I wouldn't book with them, but it's a useful search tool.

For that budget I think you'd get somewhere decent in Spain, Portugal, Greece etc.

ASighWasMadeOfStone · 23/06/2024 07:44

Also, do check hotel prices on sites like Expedia and Booking. Not always, but definitely sometimes, booking direct with a hotel isn't cheaper. Last two summers I've found Booking was cheaper slightly than booking directly with the hotel and it offered the free cancellation and pay once on site options.

What’s the motivation for all inclusive? With just one adult and a 9 year old you could easily do bed and breakfast and then find lovely places to eat or partly self cater with simple options - opens up lots more beautiful places to visit! £1500 won’t go far for an all inclusive style holiday.

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 23/06/2024 09:26

Just had a look at BA holidays, there’s some good deals there too, esp for Turkey.

id recommend going AI if you have a 9 year old and on a limited budget…. It’s soul destroying paying 3€ for a drink and sitting watching it getting warm in the sunshine. At least you know where you are budget wise with AI, and can get away with a small amount of spending money rather than having to set aside at least 100€ a day for food and drinks and snacks
