Passport validity for EU travel.

Planning a trip to disneyland for my daughters birthday at the end of the year and want to get the best price so a bit flexible on the dates within the validity of my passport but just wanted to check the latest I can use my passport as it expires in feb next year.

So does anyone here know if my latest return date can be the 9th or 10th of November if my passport expires on 10th February?

I would caution travelling up to the limit, what happens if there is a major weather event or just as likely a strike ? If you fall outside the rule I doubt if sorting it out is cheap or straightforward.

Can you not update it before you travel.

When it was issued is another consideration. It needs to be under 10 years old on the day you enter the EU.

A lot of passports expiring now were issued under the old system where you could renew up to 9 months early and keep the original expiry date.

That's now gone so you can't use it to enter the EU once it is 10 years old, even if it doesn't expire until next year.

Yes, should have added to the post it is under 10 years old and had no extra months added as I applied for it years after my previous one expired so no issues there just making sure I know the latest day I can travel on it so I can get the best price, although at the moment best price seems to be returning on the 6th or 7th.

Well if there was on the way out travel insurance would cover me and I can book for a later date with time for renewing my passport in between. Can't find anything online that mentions anything about delays while there causing issues on return, unless of course I need to travel through other EU countries to return which shouldn't be necessary travelling to France.

You can use your passport on return into the UK in the last three months... the point of the 3 months leeway for entry into Europe is to give the 90 days you can legally stay for.

Might be worth checking also if EuroDisney shut down any attractions off peak once the October half term is complete.

Should be ok with when we're looking to go I think as the halloween event ends on the 3rd and christmas stuff starts on the 9th so as long as we include one of those days I can check what may be shut in between and do those things on one of those days.

But thanks for making sure I knew.

Passport validity requirements
If you are planning to travel to an EU country (except Ireland), or Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or Vatican City, follow the Schengen area passport requirementss_.
Your passport must be:
• issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
• valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check your passport meets these requirements before you travel. If your passport was issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added to its expiry date.
This is from the FCDO website.

That doesn't answer whether the latest I can return is the 9th or the 10th though as it's not specific. I've already said further up there were no extra months added due to when my previous one expired.

To be honest, you're not going to get any more specific than FCDO advice. If you want to come back on the 10th you're taking a chance that it's ok. I'd either make sure I came back in time or I'd renew my passport.
