Going to Disneyland Paris when you don't enjoy rides

SecondStarOnTheRight · 17/06/2024 17:57

Two adults travelling to Paris and considering a trip to Disney. Never been before but while we love Disney, neither of us are huge fans of rides so wouldn't really be looking to do that side of the park.

Is there plenty to do otherwise to make it still worth visiting for the day?

Yes! Though I went with dc at a holiday themed time.

The parades are brilliant. As is the light show.

Pootles34 · 17/06/2024 18:03

Yes! Honestly the rides are only part of it. Also the rides aren't all roller coasters - I hate coasters but loved star tours, Ratatouille and the Spiderman web slingers.

SecondStarOnTheRight · 17/06/2024 21:32

Thank you! I forgot about the parades. I though it wouldn't be all like roller coasters but didn't want to risk it being that and not enjoying myself!

We where considering doing a 1 park ticket if we go, would you have recommendations over the parks?

I wouldn’t go as an adult with no children. There’s not much for adults. It’s not like Florida Disney. The rides are babyish. The parades and some shows are good. But some are very much aimed at young children. I think it would be a waste of money to be honest

Do you like Disney themed stuff? If you do, you will find enough to interest you for a few hours. Go to the Disneyland Park one.

I’d agree with the above poster though. I could think of far better ways to use my time and money if I didn’t have kids.

But presumably you like Disney or you wouldn’t have asked.

Edited

Id have everything Disney themed at home if I could. The home office is all Disney themed, though as that room is only for me, toy story wallpaper and all. 😂 I swear though I'm not the Disney fan from Come Fly With Me.

Well then you will
like it OP. It’s full of shops selling the same Disney theme merch. You can take a short train ride or a horse and carriage (transport not rides), you can see ppl dressed as characters and take photos of the shop buildings. You can walk in and out of the themed hotels and see the drone and fireworks show. if you like Disney, you will easily pass away the day in the Disneyland Park one.

longdistanceclaraclara · 17/06/2024 21:56

It's crap, if you do t like
Roses why would you go?!

Newdoggo · 17/06/2024 22:00

I hate rides and went for the kids - it was crap, shops full of the same rubbish, hardly any characters I would never go again

I get what you are saying but the OP likes Disney themed stuff. She will like the shops, and walking around the buildings. And the light show IS actually good (even for a non Disney fan like me) so a Disney fan will certainly appreciate it.

I love Disney and went with my dh before having children. We are not big fans of rollercoasters but still had a great time. We got 2 park tickets as that filled our day more. Loads of shops to visit, there’s also the new Cars ride - not really a ride but a little tram thing that they keep updating with new themes.

Just exploring the parks themselves is quite nice.
Hope you have a great time!

I go to Disney and I can't do rollercoasters anymore as they give me vertigo. But I bloody love it, the theming is amazing, the atmosphere is magical. I'd 100% go.

Clearinguptheclutter · 17/06/2024 22:14

I was going to say don’t bother unless you are a hardcore Disney fan- but this is what you are!

yes lots of non-rides stuff and stuff like “it’s a small world” is delightful (although that is a ride technically)

you can queue for 4 hours to meet a Disney princess if you like!

overall I was pretty underwhelmed but I’m not a huge Disney fan. Two highlights for me however were
a. The lion king show (a half hour highlights thing really, with great acrobatics), and
b. The end of the day light and drone show.

Newuser75 · 17/06/2024 22:16

I hate rides, but loved Disneyland Paris. There are rides that I loved such as ratatouille, spider man, pirates of the Caribbean. The parades and shows were excellent too.

Singleandproud · 17/06/2024 22:22

I would get a two park ticket. More of the shows are at the studios park. It's been a decade since we went so I know there's new marvel stuff but there was a behind the scenes tour, stunt car/lightning McQueen one, the stitch show was great. We loved the stitch show, very clever

The general area had the buffalo bills show too

As for it being for children if you like Disney you like Disney, my mum nearly knocked my head off flinging her arms wide when her favourite childhood character came towards her during parade and she was 50+ and no real obsession. Disney does something magical to connect you to childhood memories.

It may not be as good as America, but as someone who can't afford that it was still great. There were quite a few couples having character meals too. We only had character meals so never bothered queueing for photos.

I don't get on well with spinny rides and DD was too small for roller coaster but I really liked the Peter Pan one and Buzz lightyear.

meemawww · 17/06/2024 22:24

I'm taking my teenage DD to DLP on Wednesday for the fourth time in less than a year 🙈😂

Jijithecat · 17/06/2024 22:54

Yes, there are loads of shows that you can watch in the Studios. From memory there's a Lion King one, there was a Marvel show, there's a stunt show, a bus tour etc
In the park there's a maze in the Alice in Wonderland bit, you can visit the castle, take a wander up the street, visit the shops, take the train round the park, watch the parade etc.
Plenty to do without needing to set foot on a roller coaster.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 17/06/2024 23:34

Eat at ratatouille restaurant. I loved that more than the dc!

SecondStarOnTheRight · 18/06/2024 07:41

Thanks everyone, I'll share all this with the person I'm going with and will see if they still fancy going. 😊

I would get a 2 park ticket so you can watch lion king in the parc and Mickey and the magician in the studios. They are genuinely amazing shows! There is also a Pixar one which is ok, a stitch one and a Disney junior one. Plus there’ll probably be a outdoor princess show in the summer plus parades and the illuminations at the end of the day.

if you don’t like rollercoasters you would probably still like ratatouille, spiderman and cars tram ride in the studios as none spin too fast or go up and down. In the parc there is buzz light year and it’s a small world. If you can do a bit of spinning there are the teacups and dumbo! If you can do a bit of up and down there is phantom manor which is hardly any up and down at all.

There are plenty of shops, and you could spend the whole day queuing to meet characters if you wanted to 😊

I’ve been when I’ve been pregnant and wasn’t allowed on most of the rides and I still had a great time 😊
