Some Roman road builders would be helpful.

We bought some beautiful glasses back, risky I know but they all survived.
All of the food we found we could have mostly got here

PoachedScrambledBoiledFried · 15/06/2024 12:04

Depending on where in Italy and what you like... cheese, dried porcini mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, truffle/truffle oil, biscotti.

Limoncello. Or if you are going to the Amalfi coast, actual lemons. They are as big as oranges and so sweet you can eat them.

Clothing. We’ve bought some beautiful clothes for our children in Italy. The quality is second to none. Also limoncello and sunglasses 😎 .

Unusual/very fancy pasta shapes, beautifully packed to give as gifts?
Just me perhaps, but I love peach iced tea and in Italy you csn get sachets of PIT crystals that you just add to a jug of iced or cold water.
Large packets of porcini - expensive but much cheaper than here. Ditto really good small bottles of truffle oil.
I'd also be bringing back a large hunk of aged Parmesan from a good deli, cut from a big wheel of the stuff while I waited.

We always used to bring panna da cucina back, but Ocado sell it now so we don't!

Echo uncommon to.the uk pasta shapes, limoncello and dried porcini mushrooms, also Amaro Averna liquor if you like it

Do you have kids? The school supplies come into the shops mid August and there’s some pretty cool stuff like A4 notebooks (I like the QUABLOCK system) diaries and pencil cases. I always brought our cousins GIOTTO large and small tipped coloring pens, even up to teenage years.
NOVI chocolate bars are a strong contender to Lindt (if you can get them home without melting). Their Nutella was voted better quality than the original.
Rigoni di Asiago jams (100% fruit).
Le Tre Marie (expensive Milanese brand famous for their panettone) have just brought out biscuits called “ancora uno” /just one more and they are like crack- I think it’s the salt.

Clothes. The sales start in July. Go over with the minimum and buy from Oviesse, Terranova, Piazza Italia, Cotton and Silk, Original Marines etc for really low prices.

Civilservant · 15/06/2024 12:57

Think you can get Mutti tinned tomatoes in the UK now.

ArcticBells · 15/06/2024 13:32

Leather goods- handbag and shoes

SudExpress · 15/06/2024 13:41

I send DD 12 jars/tins of Mutti from Amazon and Ocado. No need to lug it back from here.

Stock cubes- any old brand. They'll change your life, and your sauces. It's the salt. 😂

TheTripThatWasnt · 15/06/2024 13:44

Porcini mushrooms. So much cheaper than here.

Yes, and you can even get porcini stock cubes which are amazing.

Majani Scorza- dark chocolate flake

Dulac Organic Calendula Baby Oil- it’s actually brilliant as a face oil

Origano …. we buy a large bag at the local market for about €5 (Italian family, so we get through a lot). You can also buy it in bunches with the flowers.
Peperoncini - buy a bunch from the market. We leave them on the stalks to dry and DH sprinkles them on his salads etc.
Capers - the ones in salt, so we can bring them in hand luggage.
Farina Pinsa Romana - with the added yeast sachets.
Napkins - a large pack of 200 will cost a couple of euros.

We also stock up on school supplies like the erasable pens etc.

fleur89 · 15/06/2024 21:53

Amaretti biscuits
Interesting risotto packs
Limoncello
Sun dried tomatoes porcini from the market
Baci chocolates
Kitchenware / tableware
