Balearics - Inflatables

Hi all
Looking for some help and tips please - the holiday app filters do not allow me to filter for this! Looking for a summer holiday for me and two teens - 3K tops - thinking of balearics due to short flight time, and not too extreme heat for August. My sticking point is that my autistic daughter associates holidays with playing in big donuts in pool - so inflatables ( not lilo - just the large rings) is a massive factor for her to enjyo herself, and therefore the rest of us. I know that Spanish regulations mean that most hotels do not allow inflatables - but trip advisor sometimes gives me hope! Do any of you lovely mumsnetters have personal experience (Recent) of hotels in spain/ balearics that allow inflatable rings for teens??!! Or any other recommendations of destinations where this is less of an issue? I know that Turkey would allow but this is too far and too hot?!!
Any tips gratefully recieved.

Could you go self catering in a villa with your own pool and then there won't be an issue?

Seeline · 13/06/2024 10:42

Is this a recent change in regulations?
It's not something I ever noticed before Covid. We went to an adults only place in Majorca last year so not so many, but I'm sure there were 1 or 2 lilos.

We went to Lanzarote during half term and the hotel would allow the use of donut rings but that was it. Some kids tried to use a giant crocodile and they were also banned.

In our hotel in Gran Canaria last year it was a total ban on all inflatables and only swimming aids allowed such as a noodle or arm bands. Sorry not much help on Majorca as we go to the canaries but some hotels do seem to have different rules.

I live in Spain and we have a communal pool. No inflatables allowed ao i think it is a safety regulation

Upinthenightagain · 13/06/2024 12:05

We stayed in two hotels in Puerto pollensa last two years and both allowed inflatables. The local shops were selling them. club de Sol and Cabot pollensa park spa. Club de Sol is the nicer of the two. Not sure how much they would be in August.

A particular safety issue with rings/doughnuts is that if they tip up, the person inside can be trapped upside down with their head underwater and be unable to right themselves. So that might be the reason that some places have banned them.

cheezncrackers · 13/06/2024 12:05

I think most hotels ban inflatables now, because they're so annoying and intrusive on other people's enjoyment of the pools. If this is a must-have for your holiday, I suggest you book a villa with a pool.

longdistanceclaraclara · 13/06/2024 12:07

I've been to Ibiza times recently, no inflatables apart from armbands and small swim rings, toddler sized.

Madickenxx · 13/06/2024 12:08

Not that recent but we went to Albufeira Sol Hotel and Spa last year and they were selling donuts and other inflatables and the pool was full of them. It's an OK hotel and food is good for teens as there's always pizza and pasta choices. Personally I found the food choices boring and not quite the 4 star they claim to be but it's clean and DSD 12 had a brilliant time. Reviews on trip advisor are pretty good as well.

We are in Majorca atm (Palia Maria hotel) and my daughters both have huge inflatables, as do others

samarrange · 13/06/2024 13:48

I wouldn't expect Majorca to be significantly less hot than Turkey in August. Plan for upper-30s every day.

fourelementary · 13/06/2024 13:51

Hotel villa maria in Tenerife.

Thanks! This looks perfect? What is around the hotel?

@allofamuddle I’m in a Menorca holiday group on Facebook and I’ve just seen a photo of children, teens and adults on inflatables at the Binimar Apartments.

sunshine237 · 13/06/2024 20:25

We stayed at royal son bou in Menorca and lots of big inflatables were allowed in the pool. Ok hotel.

allofamuddle · 14/06/2024 09:27

Thanks for these - does anyone else know of any resorts - maybe on the mainland of Spain or Canaries?

Insotel punta prima in menorca allowed inflatables when we were there a year ago

Pritas · 14/06/2024 13:22

No recent suggestions but I absolutely know the problem. My DC were gutted when we went to a hotel where balls and inflatables were banned.

CoolShoeshine · 14/06/2024 13:25

Inturotel Sa Marina in Mallorca - lovely hotel and resort - were fine with them year before last.

cherryassam · 14/06/2024 13:29

Santa Rosa Apartments in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote allows inflatables / water toys I am pretty sure
