Short haul summer sun with (young) kids club

I need to get a winter holiday in next year (pref Jan or Feb) I can't do another long winter with a young child!

I'm a solo parent.

Just need somewhere pleasantly warm, not too full of kids ideally (Blush) but child friendly, small kids club for a 3 year old so I get some childfree time.
Not too hard to get too from the airport the other side (eg not too much travel as I get bad travel sickness and getting off a flight onto a coach winding through mountains for hours will lead to vomiting fairly quickly!)
Not sure I want the hassle of a hire car, just want it simple, but train is fine.

London airport if it's a package.

I’m sorry, you lost me at wanting a kids club but not wanting other children there.

Haha obviously anywhere with enough kids to run a kids club is going to have a fair amount if kids in resort… But somewhere like Club Med? They have kids clubs for LOs and always an adults only pool you can frequent.

Grin just not too big so it feels overwhelming!
I'm ND so I like quieter places.
Love kids, just don't want to feel I'm in a school playground, because of my ND I'm noise sensitive and so can feel stressed in very busy places.
Absolutely fine if I'm the airport etc or a city break, but I want a relaxing break so I can re-charge my batteries over winter.
Because I now solo parent a child I find it hard to 'switch off' and relax day to day, but it's taking toll on my health so I'm having to forward plan breaks so I can get the recuperation I need.
No offence meant to other children!

In Jan-Feb time, you can’t really get much guaranteed sun in Europe. I’d suggest somewhere like Club Med La Palmeraie in Marrakesh, which has a crèche but also a spa and an adults-only pool.

somewhereovertherain · 04/06/2024 15:08

Good luck with that - don't think you'll find much in the way of kids clubs anywhere in Jan/Feb they only tend to run in peak season.

Thanks!

You'd think all the people with pre-schoolers would create enough demand, but maybe they all go long haul?

I think they mostly stay in the UK!! Plus lots of the resorts kids clubs are age 4+.

Some tui holidays have kids club for younger kids (tui blue hotels and holiday villages). They have a baby club for age 6 months to 3 years then age 4+ is kids club

Baby club is 6 months up to 3 years and you have to pay for. Bamse club is 3 yrs up to 6 yrs and 611 club is for 6 to 11 year olds. Bamse and 611 club are included in the cost. They all employed qualifed staff who speak a range of languages including English.

Club med also take babies for an extra fee at a lot of their resorts and they run year round. We went to their Mexico one with a 1.5YO in Jan. There’s one in Morocco if you want winter sun closer to home.

minipie · 06/06/2024 16:37

Your best option (only option really) for short haul sun in Jan/Feb is the Canaries. Southern Tenerife has the most reliably warm weather I believe - but will be warm not hot. You may get wall to wall sun or more mixed depending on luck!

Lots of hotels there with kids clubs, check they take 3 year olds (some do, some start from 4). If you go outside school holidays it won’t be heaving with kids I expect.

Hotel Suites Villa Maria in Tenerife always looked good to me as you get your own s/c space and it’s low built rather than being in a massive building, but I’ve never stayed there.

samarrange · 06/06/2024 16:58

Realistically your only chance of sun and warmth in January without going long haul is the Canaries. At that point you are going to be looking at bigger places. There are no small hotels that also have kids clubs that take under-4s, because below that age the rules about the amount of care required are so much stricter. You are in the world of yield management and economies of scale.

I second H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens. We went in February during term time and it felt fairly peaceful. There were always loads of sun loungers available and plenty of space in the pool. They have a free kids club that takes from 6+ months.

clareykb · 06/06/2024 19:29

Yes to club med. We had never been and I'd never fancied it but did a big extended family trip to the Mexico one as in laws raved about the other resorts ans had an amazing time I'm converted and plan on going to the Morocco one at some point.

Cactiverde · 06/06/2024 20:38

Go somewhere with an adults only section to chill in when your child is at the kids club?
