Annecy - last min babymoon

Hi
we’re thinking of booking a last min baby moon to Annecy in the next few weeks. I’m a little worried that it will be super busy and I might find it a bit overwhelming as I’ll be 27weeks pregnant. My ideal is to stay on the lake and get the bus into the town a few days but we’re still scoping out.

Any advice very much appreciated

I love Annecy. More for cycling, kayaking, swimming though, if you think you wil be overwhelmed at 27 weeks, I'd look at somewhere less 'active'.

I’m up for the swimming and paddle boarding etc it’s more I’m worried about the centre being too busy. Does anyone anyone know if by the end of June it will be peak busyness?

It’s a busy place in summer but not overwhelmingly so - it’s not noisy or rowdy, and it has a great atmosphere with lots of people, mainly families, enjoying the outdoors and scenery. Plenty of nice restaurants and cafes. I’d personally stay in Annecy itself so you can wander around and enjoy the lake but also pop back to your accommodation for a rest if you get tired or hot.

We went just before Christmas and it was a great place for a break. I have mobility issues and walk with a cane and it never felt overly busy that it was a challenge to get around (cobblestones however...). The lake was so beautiful, so was the town, we would love to go back at a more 'normal' time :)

I would stay in the town itself as there are so many little shops to see and places to eat and you can wander around down to and around the lake. There is this sandwich shop (stay with me now!) you MUST try - Sandwicae. That was no joke one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. The menu changes a little bit seasonally and they make their own bread in house (smells heavenly!) and are only open for a few hours every day but so so worth it.

One thing to note is CHECK CONNECTIONS - if flying into Geneva there were some issues on the track in France and we had to get this minibus thing at some craphole suburban stop that had no leg room in the seats for an hour +. Just make sure things are running and ok.

We went a couple of summers ago (early July) and it was very hot and humid, 35° plus. The old town centre is mostly level but a lot of the town is hilly, so walking back to our apartment was a hot and sticky business every time. Definitely look for somewhere with AC. We absolutely loved it though.

Where do you live if you think Annecy will be overwhelmingly busy? I used to commute into the centre of London at 35 weeks.

Good for you! Fully aware that London is a busy place thanks, hence why I’m not planning on going there heavily pregnant but pleased you managed it okay! 🙄
