We are due to go to Majorca, the north of the island in September.
I have been reading news reports and am wandering should be thinking about changing our destination?
Our plan would be hire a car and explore and relax but I am a bit concerned tbh

@solpa tell me more about the weather we arrive tomorrow 🤪

Use aemet for weather, it’s more accurate. Thunderstorms end of next week followed by melt your face off heat. Summer starts with a bang 3rd week of June every year

Is that true? I've been before in July and September. I was surprised how hot it was in September last year and this year booked for late May early June. I expected similar to September and while I don't want 35C plus it really wasn't quite hot enough on the seafront. I was cold sitting in the shade and it wasn't comfortably warm in the evening. Obviously warmer inland and if were sheltered from the wind.
I'm going back in September but next summer I think I'll avoid May.

It’s 38 degrees in Palma today … 31 in Puerto Pollenca. It’s expected to be in the mid 30s from next week and that’s not unusual for this time of year - but any earlier and it can be cooler and less predictable. In my experience third week of June is when you can reliably leave the cardi at home on an evening.

I’ve been unlucky with September. It always seems to rain when I go!

You can see historical weather here:

I’ve found this useful when trip plannning.

For weather forcast Aemet is the most accurate (Spanish equivalent of the met office)

Thanks @AllThePotatoesAreSinging that's the weather forecast I used.
I needed a fleece rather than the light cardi I took. Bars handing out blankets. If it was Canaries in January I would expect that but was quite disappointed in the weather in Mallorca in early June.
I'll aim for mid June next year and cross my fingers for this September.

I feel your pain, it’s been particularly chilly in the evenings. I saw some videos from last week and for a second I thought I’d accidentally clicked on Prague!

I love the heat so I’m quite happy with the 40+ in late July and August (and I’ve seen locals fainting due to the heat more than once!) but I’ve got 2 small children this time round so end of June it is. Hopefully I won’t need a blanket in a couple of weeks x

We always used to go mid or late June and the weather was glorious. Since DC has stated school we now have to go in half term, the last week of May/first week of June and we find it chilly. It's pleasant, but once you've been for a swim you don't want to lie about without getting changed and often need a light long sleeve layer in the evenings. PP who said summer starts the third week of June is spot on!

In reply to the earlier posts, we've just got back and there's no sign of any issues. Everyone is as friendly and welcoming as normal. They know they need the tourists. The issue is with the government trying to restrict the quantity of new building at the same time as Airbnb is running rife and prices are rising hence the issues for people to afford housing.
