Scilly Isles - Can you spend a week there?

We are taking a week holiday to attend an event on the Scilly isles. Are the islands interesting enough for 2 adults to spend a week there? Or should we stay in Cornwall and just go to the islands for the event?
Any recommendations for simple, clean, comfortable accommodation on St Mary's?
Thanks.

They are one of the most lovely places in the world. My absolute happy place.
Good luck finding accommodation for this August though…

We had a lovely holiday there when I was too pregnant to fly, we took grandparents and toddler too. It was really lovely.

@SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter
I am one of those weirdos ..
I swim outdoors in lakes all year. I'll take a wetsuit too though.
Love you name btw.

Looking forward to some good fish and chips on the beach now.
I'm feeling quite excited now.

Just back from a glorious week on Tresco with friends who have a timeshare there. Five mins rain the morning we arrived and apart from a little fog one morning, we had glorious sunshine all week. Visited two other islands and walked at least five miles each day. Scenery and wildlife fantastic. Beautiful beaches with hardly anyone on them, great food, though self catering is expensive so take what you can with you to subsidise. So relaxing. Others have mentioned other activities but for us just walking and relaxing was paradise. Take plenty of sun cream! We flew by helicopter from Penzance as the ferry from Penzance can be brutal!

Have a great time! Heading there for a week the day after tomorrow and my adult kids and their partners are coming too - it’s their favourite holiday of the year!

I have been to St Martins for a week almost every year for the last 20 years. I'm never short of things to do.

I warn you that you must call them The Isles of Scilly…. Not The Scilly Isles, or The Scillies.

The locals will scowl at you.

Said as the (non Cornish) wife of a Penzancian…. who has made said error and been admonished for it.

@crumblingschools Turks Head, lovely place to go on supper boat.

@Todayissunny look at Isles of Scilly Late Accommodation FB page, you can post asking for accommodation

I could spend a month there. It’s wonderful. Five islands to see and explore. One island a day. Loads of boat trips, wildlife spotting. The pace of life is slow. You won’t have a car so you have to walk everywhere. If on St Mary’s there a bus, but otherwise nothing on the other islands.

The beaches are beautiful, the sea is fine, you don’t need a wetsuit. It’s very unspoilt.

If you want August this year, you might be too late. It’s usually booked up a year in advance.

I've never been there but in my opinion you can spend a week anywhere. Relax, let it wash over you, take the sights and scenery slow and enjoy at a slow pace.

its deffo on my bucket list
