We need water shoes for Croatia. What do you recommend? Happy to pay a bit for them if they're good as we'll use them again...

We get basic ones from decathlon.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 20/05/2024 18:38

I got some great ones from Amazon that are like trainers.

CoffeeAndPeanuts · 20/05/2024 18:40

IME there's not much/any offence in them. Just be sure to get them on the snug side because otherwise the weight of the water drags them off/ makes them difficult to walk in.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/05/2024 18:40

What are you going to be wanting to do in them? 'Water shoes' could mean anything from trainer-ish (I've had some good ones from lands end) through to ones suitable for swimming or windsurfing.

caringcarer · 20/05/2024 18:41

I like the neoprene ones.

reluctantbrit · 20/05/2024 18:54

DD is a Scout and they do lots of SUPing and canoeing. Their leader asked to get lace up ones for their Summer camp last year. They fit a lot better than the simple slip one we bought at Sports Direct.

She has these (bought at 1/2 price though)

@reluctantbrit I have those ones too. I do a lot of outdoor swimming and it can be rocky getting in and out.

I’ve just replaced my first pair after 4 years, simply because I’ve lost one by the side of a river somewhere, but they are comfy and sturdy

Hols23 · 20/05/2024 22:09

We got these from Sports Direct: https://www.sportsdirect.com/searchresults?descriptionfilter=Hot%20tuna%20aqua

ChristmasLightsLover · 20/05/2024 22:46

Thank you! The hot tuna or decathlon ones looks like they'll be practical. We usually do water sports and forget that we need prefer something... I like the idea of lace ups although don't think we're quite there for them.

Will def size us snug on the hot tuna or decathlon ones.

We have used the hot tuna ones. They have been fine. I have also washed them in the washing machine and they come out fine.

reluctantbrit · 21/05/2024 07:19

@ChristmasLightsLover The lace up ones aren't like a pair of shoes, they have this little toggle you use to tighten the laces, no normal tieing required.

Kitkat1523 · 21/05/2024 08:12

Hot tuna ….been using them for years for us, kids and grandkids

ZenNudist · 21/05/2024 08:14

Mountain warehouse are fine.

QueSyrahSyrah · 21/05/2024 08:14

Hot Tuna from Sports Direct for us and they've never let us down.

NoTicket · 21/05/2024 08:15

We have the decathlon ones and taking them to Croatia next week. They are really durable and they have been passed down between the kids without any issues. We've got some velcro fasten ones which are a good mid point to laces!

BaronessBomburst · 21/05/2024 08:16

We also use the Decathlon ones and put them in the washing machine.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 21/05/2024 08:20

DD has the hot tuna ones from sports direct usually on 2 for £13 or 2 for £15 deals, have to get her a new pair every year because her feet grow faster than she can wear out her shoes.

MojoDojoCasaHouse · 21/05/2024 10:39

I like the Gul ones from Spirts Direct but the Hot Tuna ones are fine as well. I’ve got thinner ones for sea swimming as I need to access via sea weedy steps but they may not be great over pebbles.

Daisymay2 · 21/05/2024 10:42

DS is a kayaker and has only ever used the ones from Aldi or Lidl. They survive dragging canoes up and down banks and over gravel.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 21/05/2024 11:06

I've just bought some in lidl, £4.99 on their special buys this week although I bought them on day 1 so you may be a bit late. Ours are fir snorkelling in rocky areas

You will hate me…but honestly Crocs type shoes are hugely versatile for watersports.
Using one pair you can walk straight into the sea, over rocks, cover many varied sorts of terrain. Then for sailing, catamaraning, kayaking, in the shower, poolside. So versatile and a good safe grip underfoot plus you can move seamlessly from one activity to another.

Interesting. I absolutely hate crocs, I can't have a grip in them and lost mine all the time. Maybe because i have fairly narrow feet?

I can't imagine swimming in crocs - wouldn't they come off too easily? The neoprene shoes are really grippy.
