Baby car seat on transfer coaches

We're off to Tenerife later this week and we're taking a car seat for our 7 month old. I had thought we'd just strap it in on the transfer coach, but have just realised most coaches only have lap belts I think. Do we just put her in the car seat anyway and just sit it on the seat. That seems safer than holding her? Legally I don't think she needs to be in a seat, but I'd prefer her to be as that must be safer.

Some car seats can be secured with just a lap belt, but also the coach I was on had standard 3 point belts

There will only be a seat on the transfer coach if you paid for a seat for your baby on the plane

This. Unless you have a seat on the plane, there won't be one on the coach generally. Unless otherwise stated or arranged

Thanks everyone. Never travelled with a baby so this is all alien to me! The travel agent said car seat had been requested but isn't guaranteed, so I assumed that to mean she'd have a seat on the coach (she hasn't on the plane). Do people usually just hold their babies then? Perhaps I should book a taxi instead as it's only 20min transfer. I'll ask the travel agent about the coach seatbelts in case she happens to know. Thanks again

I doubt they will have child seats suitable for a baby. You might be provided a booster seat - that will be it.

If it's 20 mins I wouldn't worry too much - you wouldn't use a car seat on a bus. A coach is much bigger than a car so in an accident it would come off better. Plus it's very unlikely any accident will happen in the first place. If you will have a car seat with you then you could try to use it but I don't think it will make much of a difference.

Thanks @BertieBotts . Turns out our transfer was minibus anyway, so had seatbelts.
