Hi!

Just wondering if anyone would be able to answer a few Qs for me. We’re going to the Lake District CP in July with our 7 month old. I have a couple of things I’m unsure about:

  • will she be able to use the pool with us at any time or does it have to be pre booked through the Baby Dolphin program?
  • I’d love a little trip to the spa - would you say it’s better to book a ‘spa session’ or a treatment? I don’t want to be away from my fam for too long but also want to make the most of it!

Any other little tips and hints for travelling here with a little one would be very much appreciated!

She’ll be able to use the pool with you anytime. My LO loved the wave pool.
I’d book a spa session. You won’t regret it. The treatments are a bit overpriced imo.

@Forgottenmyphone thanks so much! I thought that about the treatments too - spa session sounds lovely!

We went to that one at Easter for the first time. We loved it. Pool is anytime, spa I would book the spa session, it does get quite busy. I also did the spa and it was out of this world. Also book restaurants as they too get busy. Weve already booked to go back in November it was amazing.

Hoppytobes · 17/05/2024 15:19

They give you free Ella’s kitchen pouches 👌🏻

We went when my Lo was 10 months. He loved it. Can swim anytime.

My daughter has just turned 1, and we took her when she was 6 months, and again at 10 months.

Babies can use the pool at any time, but we booked a baby dolphins session on one day too, which was nice. It was done in the upstairs pool, and basically involved 30 mins of songs in the pool and floats/toys etc. It’s done early morning before the pool opens to everyone else, and you’re free to stay after the session is finished, so it’s a great time to get in the main pool while it’s quieter (everyone else is just starting to be let in at this time) or ride the slides if you want to.

For the spa, it depends entirely on what you want. I’ve done both (the spa itself and the treatments). They’re both great for different reasons. The spa itself is one of the best ones I’ve ever been to. It has a large number of sauna/steam/heat rooms, I think about 10 different ones from memory, so you can spend loads of time dipping in and out of each one. There’s also an outdoor heated pool, and a small covered pool with jacuzzi.

For the treatments, I’ve never tried the facials, but have had a few different massages. They’ve all been lovely, but they are expensive.

It’s 2 very different experiences, so it just depends on what you’re after - some general relaxation time, or some specific pampering.

General tips for being there with a baby:

They have a baby sensory session, which is lovely. 10 mins of songs and then some time to explore with various different toys, a mini ball pit, you can make footprints on a little poem as a keepsake, and there’s a sensory room at the back with lights and various other things.

Most of the restaurants have free Ella’s Kitchen pouches - just ask if you want one, and they’ll bring you a menu with what they have.

There’s a microwave and bottle warming station in the bar area of the bowling alley, which you can just go and help yourself to if you need to.

Theres a lovely little area just outside of the sports centre, next to the mini golf. It’s the space where they have the winter wonderland over Christmas time. When it’s not Christmas, they have it open as a walkway, and they leave some of the areas open from Christmas, just without the decorations. For example, there’s a big nest with ‘Center Parcs Whinfell 2024’ where you can sit and get a picture, or a giant toadstool that has a photo box that you can attach your phone to to take a timed picture. At night they light it all up too. We loved walking around this area with our daughter in the pram, and went back a few different times.

Any other questions, feel free to ask. I hope you and your family have a lovely time!

Christmascrazymum · 18/05/2024 12:37

We go to Sherwood every Christmas and as some have mentioned above - swimming at any time and baby dolphins is a lovely younger session when the pool is calmer.

There’s cots in the pool area so if your little one gets tired or needs a break from the water you can go chill on the seating and use these.

We always wrap our towels in hot water bottles so they’re toasty warm when we’ve finished swimming (probably not as necessary in July).

If you don’t have one, I’d recommend a snooze shade for your pram - it will help baby nap when you’re out and about during the day, and keep them cool and protected from the sun.

The Ella’s kitchen pouches can vary in each restaurant - but we used to ask in the pancake house if it was possible to get a plain pancake no toppings for our son and they never charged for this.

I hope you have an amazing time!

Hey, we’re going to the same CP next week with our 11 month old LO.

As others said, can use pool anytime. Dolphin sessions not available for our break, which is a shame. I have also booked treatment and spa session - I went to the spa years ago and loved it there so want to do this again (even though it is quite expensive).

re Ella’s pouches - I asked Guest services and they said it’s only the 4 months purée version available?! So will let you know what they have when we return. If they did have 10 months plus pouches, I’ll be quite annoyed cos we’ve just bought loads of pouches today 😒

Agree with all of this. The spa is lovely, don't need the treatments

@Underestimated4 @Hoppytobes @Sjh15 thanks for the tips! Glad she’ll be able to use the pool any time, that wasn’t clear on the website! Great about the Ella’s kitchen pouches and I’ll def book restaurants in advance!

@rach333 @Christmascrazymum @TheAmusedSwan thanks so much for all the helpful info and tips! I’m so looking forward to it and feel better prepared after reading your helpful comments ☺️

@Lokshen will def book the spa session instead of a treatment!

Hi, so we’re back from centre parcs and had a fab time!

Tips:

  • bring a playmat if possible. We had a 2 bed woodland lodge so we set up the playmat in living space and moved the coffee table. LO had plenty of room to move round safely and play with his toys
  • take fire stick/roku if you want to watch Netflix etc. The TV isn’t a smart tv so doesn’t have catchup or streaming services
  • if wristband is a bit loose (as they’re only available as 1 size), keep it on a bobble / key ring etc. I lost mine one day and you can get replacement bands from guest services free of charge
  • if hiring bikes, take what you can to the lodge at 4pm (you can use the boot if you hire a trailer for LO) as the drive in car to the lodge at 4pm is ridiculous. Luckily we could take our essentials in backpacks and trailer boot, then DH went back later on to get car
  • if possible, bring food/toiletries with you. The parc market is useful in case you forget anything but it is cheaper outside
  • there is no aircon in lodges so just be mindful for your stay in July
  • didn’t use the free Ella pouches so unable to comment on this. LO ended up eating some of the stuff we had at mealtimes 😊

I’m sure there’s other things which are useful but that’s what I would say for now. Enjoy your trip! X

TheAmusedSwan · 26/05/2024 21:58

Not sure how to edit but forgot to say to bring slippers and extra clothes for LO as there’s no washing machine or laundrette on site 🙄

SHFsMum · 04/06/2024 14:22

@TheAmusedSwan fantastic tips, thanks so much!

Does anyone know how many adults are allowed in the baby dolphin session. It was "must be accompanied by one adult" but we are going as a big group with grandparents so could we all go in or is it one adult/one child?
