Holiday advice - end of October

Hi there, could anyone recommend anywhere for an end of October week abroad please with two children. We are celebrating a big birthday and anniversary and would love to treat ourselves to a beach holiday with warm weather but I'm not sure where will still be warm enough to sunbathe at that time and we don't really want to go long haul if we can help it. Thanks

Remember there was a heatwave last year. Anyone saying they went to Europe and had 28-30 degrees was lucky. It’s not normally 28-30 degrees in Sardinia at the end of October.

Be careful OP. I wouldn’t risk anywhere in Europe at the end of October if you’re looking for sun bathing and guaranteed warmth.

And as another poster said it’s the end of the season so lots shut down.

Sardinia. Water warm. Air temp about 28/30. We went to alghero pre cold. I would suggest Olbia or Calieria w children

We visited Sardinia last September, flying into Olbia and our experience was that many places in the resort towns had already closed - ie wanting a restaurant for eating lunch out. I don't know what they were like in the evening as we tended to stay by our villa (inland). Although you would probably be fine staying at a hotel .

We've had lovely weather in Southern Spain during October half term. We've also had lovely weather there at Christmas and in February . But it's inconsistent and we've also had cloud and rain during those times on other occasions. I think the weather is pretty similar between October and April and it's just a matter of luck .

That’s interesting. I think because alghero has a lot of people that live there normally the city is less affected than a tourist area

DH and I were in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote last October ( cruise so a day in each) .
Gran Canaria and Tenerife pissed down with rain.

But a few years ago we went to Tenerife end Oct it was lovely , wander about in shorts and go to Sian Park weather .

So you cannot tell .

We are going to Oman in late October. Culture, food, boats, dolphins and turtles, hiking, Bedouin camps, sand dunes. Lower key than Dubai

Tunisia in October was nice. Lovely and warm and ok to swim but needed a jacket in the evening.

We go to Tenerife in November/December and it's always been warm enough for sunbathing, we're going for Christmas this year

I do think the Canaries tick all the boxes in terms of not long haul and more reliable weather. It’s not guaranteed but I wouldn’t go to Spain/Greece - too risky.
