One child family holidays

Other one child families- would love to hear your journeys through holidays!!
I grew up with siblings and have an only child not by choice, feel I can't get anything right!

When she was a baby/toddler we would go away to baby friendly hotels UK and abroad as a family.
As toddler/preschooler we loved hotels with little creches like the luxury family hotels brand in UK, Crieff Hydro etc. as well as UK and european center parcs.
(A little bit of Covid hit)
School age, we have enjoyed nice hotels with kids clubs abroad, disneyland paris, more center parcs (she loves swimming!)
DD is now 9, we have a disney cruise booked later this year and a hotel with water park and kids club in Crete next year, then she will suddenly be 10!!!
Even now she seemed to be the oldest at the kids club on our last holiday. Where's good for only children to go? People onMN and friends with onlies say "oh they just make friends at the pool" but mine doesn't? She will watch other kids and I will encourage her to talk to them but without an organised activity she finds it hard.
I was looking at Neilson holidays. Any experiences?
Navigating tweens is hard and we don't have the kind of friends we would holiday with (even family make it hard and complicated) please help 🙂

I'm an only child. My parents used to book a holiday cottage in Cornwall or Wales for two weeks every year. I loved it, those holidays were so magic. We'd spend all day on the beach, I might make friends with another kid but usually not. We'd explore rock pools, go in the sea, and if it was rainy we'd go into nearby towns. I used to read a lot. I just liked hanging out with my parents and being somewhere new.

When I was a teenager we took a friend with us for part of the holiday, but I never went to kids clubs or Disney or anything like that.

My DS is 6 and an only.

We just Holiday normally?

He's never done a kids club and never socialises with other children on holiday. Holidays are family time. And, imo, he spends all day every day socialising with other children at school so when we go on holiday it's just the three of us. No socialising with others.

We do all the normal things like going to the beach, water parks, playgrounds etc. Family meals, board games. South of France this year. Croatia next year.

@L4815162342 sanctimonious much? Could you be any more judgmental about those of us who has kids that like kids clubs? Or maybe a lone parent like me who also needs a bit of downtime.

How much is an Easter Neilson’s holiday in somewhere like Croatia? Ballpark. I looked at a skiing one out of interest, and let’s just say it was somewhat out of my price range… and anyone’s that I know.

The beach clubs don't open until May usually so you'd be looking at half term rather than Easter. The half term week is expensive relative to an all inclusive type holiday, but you have to look at what is included in the price as the range of activities and the standard of the kids club is really exceptional in my opinion but not worth paying the extra if you're not going to take advantage of that.

We saved substantially by taking DD out of school for 2 days and flying the Thursday before half term began. £2.4k vs £4.5k. We looked for next year and it's cheaper to fly on Thursday and stay 10 nights than it is to fly Sunday and stay for 7.
