Best airplane approved pushchair which can handle off-road?

I'm travelling with my 13kg toddler.
I need a pushchair/buggy/stroller which can fit in the overhead lockers.
We are flying and staying in a developing country and although we are staying in a city the roads/pavements are going to be very different to the ones in the UK.

I don't really want to spend loads of money, but if I did then I would want to be able to re-use the stroller back in the Uk as I only currently use a mountain buggy which is great for footpaths etc, not so great in shops/restaurants.

My toddler will be using a stroller until they are 4 at least (mobility issues) so in some ways I don't mind buying something decent as I need a stroller.

I think it's going to get trashed though on the trip, as all the Yo-yo type ones wheels look very flimsy/delicate.

I can't bring my mountain buggy, I doesn't fit in the overhead lockers and I'm travelling alone with my child, and I can't have anytime at the airport either end without a stroller. I find sling too heavy for very long and especially after a long haul flight, I'm not very big or physically strong and I'll be carrying our other hand luggage too.

Does anyone know or recommend a stroller which is cabin approved and robust? Or are they not really capable of having both qualities?

Personally i have yet to find a cabin approved stroller that would do what you want. So the choice is really between a convenient holiday or a convienent 10-30 minutes at the airport on arrivals.

If it was me I'd look at taking your mountain buggy. We take our out n about and I'm so glad we do every time. Either Checking it in as baggage, most airlines let you do thst for free for under 5's. Then getting some kind of micro transport for getting through the airport. Trunki/jet kids/microscooter eazy ride case. Or a decent toddler/preschool carrier.

Or as you can gate check buggies your other alternative is to use your buggy before boarding. check it in at the gate and hope it arrives at the gate the other end. It often does. Think only place it hasn't when we've done this is arrival back at heathrow.

What you want doesn't exist! Take your mountain buggy and gate check it. Use a sling until you get to arrivals then you've got a decent buggy for the rest of the holiday. You can often ask for the buggy to be returned at the door of the aircraft but take a sling in case.

I don't think that stroller exists.

I would use a carrier and get the stroller back at the luggage belt.

If mobility is an issue, talk to the airline, they may be able to let you take the stoller through security, take it at the plane door and deliver it back when you deplane.

Gate check this end and put a request for assistance if your dc has mobility issues. Some airports have rental or complimentary strollers on arrival for use to the reclaim area as an alternative. I honestly think managing the hand luggage, a child and the stroller getting off is harder than coping without it to the gate but I would check with your airline to see if they can get your stroller to you at the gate on arrival ... I managed to do this with BA but was years ago I admit and my dc had disability paperwork.

I’d agree with this. I’ve also found the last 2 times I’ve travelled with my yoyo crew have been reluctant to let me take it on board, I was refused one of the times and they took it off me on the plane and put it in the hold but I argued my point the second time and managed to keep it.
