MORE Center Parcs questions

I have read through loads of the archived material, but haven't found the answers to these questions of a paranoid first-timer:

(We are going to Oasis in 3 weeks' time)

  1. How many swimming towels do we need to take each? i.e. what sort of heating is in the 'huts' - can we easily get towels dry so that we can swim twice a day?

  2. We want to book the boys in for a kids club at 12 on the day we arrive, but the leaflets say the tickets and forms etc. will be left in our accommodation - which we won't get into until 3.30 ..?!

  3. It says we can use the pool from 2 pm on the day we arrive. How do they know we have arrived that day, rather than are leaving that day

  4. Are there lockers in the 'centre'? i.e. if you go swimming then for a meal, what do you do with your swimming gear? Or wet weather gear if it's lousy?

Thank you for your patience with my rather boring queries!

Can you hire those bikes with the childrens bike bit attached to the back (don't know what they're called - look a bit like a tandem!). Does anyone know please?

emsiewill · 09/04/2005 23:49

Yes you can hire the bikes you're talking about, but make sure you get one as soon as you get there. We got a 'proper' bike for dd2, and she hated it. By the second day when we went to swap it, there were none of those bikes left.

do you have to queue for ages for bikes?

what are the baby changing facilities like at the pool? is there a family type room where men and women can go in the same changing room? i am worried about trying to get dd dry and then where to put her whilst i get myself dry!!

can you take buggys into the pool? if not is there somehwere to leave them?

sorry for all the questions!!

roisin · 10/04/2005 10:34

Yes there's family changing. Yes there's a place to leave buggies just before you go into the changing room.

But there are loads of seats etc. round the pool, you could easily take a bag in with you and get her dry and dressed by the side of the pool when she'd had enough!

There were big queues for bikes when it first opened. We went swimming in the afternoon then walked to our chalet whilst dh brought the luggage in the car. Then we picked up the bikes at 5 pm, and it was very quiet then.

We had fab time, do ask away if you have any more questions!

We are regular visitors to Oasis and thoroughly enjoy pampering ourselves in the Spa. Have put dd into the childcare/creche since she was about 9 months and it has always been a big hit. They do a great deal 3 hours childcare/2 hours in Spa, so you even have time to grab a quick coffee in peace before collecting the kids again.

If eating out you will find the children's menu is the same in every restaurant so can get a bit boring if kids are fussy eaters. Usual fare of fish/nuggets/sausage and chips, macaroni cheese etc.

We have never hired bikes, preferring to walk everywhere as then you can always put little ones in a buggy if highchairs are in short supply. Also buggy can be very handy for dumping bags, jackets etc in as Butterfly Centre can get very hot.

Planning our next trip in October when no2 will be about 3mths old. Will have no problem leaving both in the creche for some well earned r & r.

We went to the Spa too, which was fantastic. Well worth the cost. Mostly we just did lots of swimming, rode bikes, walked in the forest, watched birds, had a BBQ (in January!), toasted marshmallows on the open fire; and basically played at being "in the country!"

Have a great time!

morningpaper, we have just returned from CP, and it must have been you that spurred into action all the little orange loo seats hanging on the wall for your little ones in each loo.

I remember that I phoned up prior to our visit at Sherwood to ask about access to the pool on the day of arrival before 2.00, and was told it was fine.
I did the lavender relaxation class a couple of years ago, that was nice.
When we went ds was only tiny, and i expected that I would be able to sit within the pool area, and watch the family swim while he slept, but I was rather flabagasted that this was not possible! I had to go into a bowling alley with a smoky bar next door, and peek through an obscured window!
