Package holiday company recommendations?

Iggi999 · 27/04/2024 20:01

We've been away about 3 times with Jet2 and have had very good experiences. But, their holidays seem more expensive than some I see advertised online. Has anyone other companies you would recommend for a family of 4, beach and relaxing type holiday in Europe? Tui? EasyJet?
Thanks

We like Tui.

BG2015 · 27/04/2024 22:06

We use TUI but book through Holiday Hypermarket which are the budget version of TUI and always seem a bit cheaper.

We're going on holiday with Easyjet Holidays this summer as they were significantly cheaper than anyone else for the package we wanted. never used them before so will see how they fair.

RandomUsernameHere · 27/04/2024 22:25

We've used TUI and Holiday Hypermarket before and both have been good. TUI does the free kids places which can be quite a big saving. Currently researching exactly the same as you, OP (beach holiday in Europe for family of four) so will update with how I get on!

TheFairyCaravan · 27/04/2024 22:29

We always use Tui, or First Choice. They’re both the same company but have different apps/booking sites. Sometimes the same holiday can be £40-50 cheaper on either one of them so I always double check before booking.

Thank you all, I didn't realise I'd had replies! Tui seems to have a positive press on here. I'll have a look!

Jet 2 - I love their efficiency and organisation - (to my admitted surprise) they are now top of my list.

TUI - also good, especially if you need backup of a rep in resort.

Easyjet holidays have also been very good, even had some better room upgrade options in exactly the same hotel as TUI - but no rep close on hand (e.g. if you are older / or need help). There do seem to be more risks with EZY flights changing/significant flight delays though - which I have seen affecting package holidays (e.g. people arriving 2 days late in resort for what should have been a 7 day holiday, ends up being only 5)

I would no longer book with the other companies such as On The Beach and many others similar - they just book separate components and so many possibilities of different elements not going to schedule.

Thomas Cook - no longer trading in UK - but they were shocking before they crashed.

tanstaafl · 28/04/2024 08:28

@VWT5 Thomas Cook is still trading.

A year ago I would be saying Jet2 , but as a pp mentions, they now appear pricey.

ASighMadeOfStone · 28/04/2024 08:30

BA are worth a look. Surprisingly, their holidays can often be cheaper, or around the same price as others.

My cousin swears by Jet2 but I've never used them. For packages I've only ever used Tui and can't fault them.

Work means I have to go in August so I always book either a year before, when the early bird offers come out , or last minute.

GettingStuffed · 28/04/2024 09:47

Jet2 include hold luggage in their prices, others don't and by the time you've added them there's not much difference in the price

Thursdaygirl · 28/04/2024 10:07

I swear by TUI, but we are booked with Jet2 for a holiday in a few months time, it was competitive, the website booking experience was good, and a good choice of flights.

CissOff · 28/04/2024 10:17

We used to be staunch Tui bookers but have done the last couple of holidays with Jet2 and they are generally cheaper for my local airport (Bristol) and tend to have more child free places.

Iggi999 · 28/04/2024 11:14

Tui definitely worth a look then. The Jet2 planes are definitely more comfortable than the easyJet ones!

I use mostly Jet2 but occaisionally TUI if it's a better flight.
I always compare booking direct but 99% of the time a package is cheaper for the holiday I want. (Must be a regional airport, civilised flight time, specific hotel).
Wouldn't use On the Beach or similar as they are not genuine package holidays. If you you are not using a tour operator you may as well book direct with the hotel and separate flights.

CeeJay81 · 28/04/2024 11:26

I'd only jet 2 or tui.

We've gone with jet 2 for the first time and it was cheaper than tui for our holiday. I guess it really depends on when you book, where you fly from and what dates have child free places etc.

Georgyporky · 28/04/2024 12:01

We've used BA & EasyJet & they've been fine.
No reps in resorts, but always a tel no for 24/7 help.

Had very bad experiences with Tui & Jet2 & won't touch them again.

Bettyscakes · 28/04/2024 16:08

I’ve just booked a holiday for next year with Easyjet, exact same holiday £400 more on Jet2! Been with easyJet before with no issues.

Spaceracers · 28/04/2024 16:22

We've used jet2 before and had really good experiences but they were more expensive this year - BA was cheaper for same hotel and better timed flights (BA is more risky I think in terms of strikes etc)

Iggi999 · 28/04/2024 21:56

Oh Lordy have just followed up all the recommendations on here and the price is still so high (well it is to me - 5 grand for what seems quite a standard holiday is a lot).
I know self catering is always cheaper; but just for one time a year I want someone else doing all the thinking and preparing. Sigh.

We've used Jet 2 the last couple of years and have been impressed both times. They were efficient, well organised and the, planes seemed to have more leg room than we've had before.

Meredusoleil · 28/04/2024 22:12

I'd really like to look into Jet2 holidays, but they don't seem to fly out from either LGW or LHR, do they?

likepebblesonabeach · 28/04/2024 22:17

I used to book with Tui, no real complaints then booked with Jet2 and really couldn't faujt them, booked with them multiple times.
Last year booked a cheap last minute with EasyJet and was pleasantly surprised, very good service and value for money

ThingammyBob · 28/04/2024 22:25

We have booked with EasyJet quite a few times and always found them very reasonable, and no issues whilst travelling.
