Holiday packing - bare legs yay or no with this forecast short city break

Going on holiday to Europe thought the weather would be better :-( I don’t usually feel the cold very often as menopausal and we live in Scotland. What should I pack with this forecast thinking of taking a waterproof jacket, a light jacket and an umbrella for definite and a combination of outfits (but probably too summery and I have one hoodie) so far I have overpacked. Don’t want to be too warm or too cold. Walking sandals and a skirt or cut off trousers and bare legs for day time with this forecast yay or no or full length trousers and trainers?!?

Seems a bit chilly....no better than here really. I wouldn't wear open shoes

Depends how much you feel the cold. I’d be packing jeans trainers T shirts and light jumpers plus a medium jacket. Plus a warmer jumper or two for evenings. Wouldn’t contemplate bare legs or sandals. But I get cold easily.

Thanks think I am going to have to rethink everything sadly. I thought it would be a good few degrees warmer than here. I have been without a coat the odd day here in the last few days.

I'd be in jeans, trainers, jumper and coat! Definitely not worth my legs or toes out.

TheTripThatWasnt · 21/04/2024 19:48

Definitely not sandals! Trainers all the way. A skirt would probably be fine in the daytime if it's not windy - that makes a huge difference. I think layers will be key.

Where are you going? Some places have forecasts which are more reliable than others.

BollockstoThis1 · 21/04/2024 19:48

I am on the warm side and feel better being slightly cooler rather than over heating but I don’t want to be miserably cold. I have a hoodie for an extra layer but will have to rethink everything else by what you have said.

Not sure where you are going but we have just come back from 4 days in Amsterdam and it was mostly very chilly and one day was downright cold! I had taken some slip on Sketcher shoes which were perfect for walking around and quite lightweight. I spent all my time during the day in jeans and jumpers. I took a light raincoat but a thicker jacket too. I took a nice dress with boots to wear but never wore it!

For me that would be jumpers, long-sleeve T-shirts, jeans and a medium jacket or a thin one if the jumpers are warm enough.

Trainers or boots, definitely no sandals.

mynameiscalypso · 21/04/2024 20:33

That's what it was like in London last week. In the sun, it was okay but I was still wearing a heavy winter coat most of time.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 21/04/2024 20:36

I don't feel the cold much either, I would wear jeans, trainers and leather jacket and scarf for that weather. No sandals!

A midi skirt with closed toe shoes would be ok but not as practical, and could run a little frumpy.

BollockstoThis1 · 21/04/2024 20:42

Thanks I have now opted for trousers and trainers during the day now. I have layers nothing massively warm but I can layer up or strip off if the sun makes an unlikely appearance.

We've just been to the US for a week where the weather was very much like that (apart from a freak couple of days at the beginning in the low 20s).

I mainly wore jeans, trainers, t shirt and a cardigan and took one of those Uniqlo down jackets that can be stuffed in a little bag. Evenings I wore a long denim skirt and t shirt or long jersey dress, cardigan, 40 denier tights and silver Supergas.
