Which cruise?

DH and I booking a cruise for next Feb/March for a milestone birthday. Narrowed it down to either:

Caribbean cruise or Singapore - Indonesia.

We have done the Caribbean 3 times but we don't mind the 9hr flight to Miami as we spend a couple of nights in the city before boarding the 7 night cruise, then flying home the same day of disembarkation.

We both want to try the Indonesian cruise, but I think the flight to Singapore is putting us off. We are both limited to the amount of time we can take off, so I'm looking to see if spending 3 nights in Singapore then 8 nights on a cruise is too far to travel, in particular, the jet lag.

We did go to Japan pre Covid and spent 9 nights and we struggled with jet lag, but it wasn't a relaxing trip, it was constant on the go and exploring, so I've got that at the back of my mind.

Both cruises are with royal Caribbean who we cruise with all the time and happy with both ships, but just not sure if we should take the plunge and go for the Indonesian cruise!

I’d do Indonesia. I’ve done the Caribbean a couple of times and I find it a bit repetitive island to island. I feel there is only so many beaches and sea views to see. What are the Ports of call on the Indonesia Cruise?

Jet lag is horrible but after a couple lf days it’s passed.

Some of the Singapore cruises have been pulled due to the issues in the Middle East, especially with having to go around the cape at SA and it through the Suez.

Yeah it's the repositioning cruises. We're on a cruise before the reposition but they have cut that one short to allow for extra time to move over to Asia, so a few people on that cruise have changed their booking onto our sailing.

Please be aware that cruising is not an Eco friendly holiday, according to DS a cruise will create the equivalent of CO2 from a million cars.
Also they use a lot of single use plastics .

I'd go for the new itinerary if I were you. But a week is very short for an Asia visit so I would make it longer if at all possible.

Many cruise lines completely avoid single use plastic these days @GettingStuffed , you'll find no plastic water bottles, straws, nothing on Holland America for example. (Unlike Florida which has single use plastic everywhere!).

Current plan is, the 8 night Bali/Indonesia cruise with 3 nights in Singapore beforehand and a night after disembarking, so 12 nights all in. Not the longest trip, but really limited to 2 weeks time off work.

It will be very hot and humid. Fine if you like this sort of thing. I take 4 showers a day to cool off in those climes. I personally would hide in airconditioned comfort which means no point travelling so far away for this sort of holiday.

Bali is lovely though.
