Anyone done a city break in Berlin?

Thinking about this in the next year. Where did you stay? What did you do? How long? It will be two adults and two teens. Would want to get a bit of the history in as one of the teens is doing the Second World War in history at school but also some other fun bits.

we normally book with Thomas cook but not sure if there’s cheaper out there.

thanks

Circus Hostel. Brilliant transport links. Great location.

We went a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. Lots to do and very clean, we hired those electric bikes to get about and it was really easy!

The only thing I didn’t like about it was the food. Those German sausage things are revolting

Any recommendations where a group of 5 teenagers could stay (all male and 17/18 year olds) ) could stay - definitely somewhere central with a bit of life.

Maybe start your own thread? This thread is seven months old.

I disagree with Potato re boring. I've been to most European cities and Berlin is one of my fave. The city, the Reichstag, the wall, the restaurants, the food.

The Novotel is central.

We went a few years ago with our son when he was around 15 or so. Stayed pretty close to the Tower, so very easy to get all around the centre via the railway/tube. We loved it.

We did a pedal cycle tour that gave us a real good insight into the size, history and where everything was. Went up the tower - brilliant views. Went to the zoo. Walked all around the centre - photo opps at checkpoint charlie and went into the museum opposite, then the war museum and the Jewish memorial, Brandenburg gate.

Son was very impressed! Likewise he was about to do his History GCSE and one of his modules was the Weimar republic!

I took my 16 year old ds and he loved it.....we stayed at ArtHotel which was lovely and really welcoming.
I was a bit underwhelmed by the city as previous poster said...it isn't beautiful due to war damage. But the history is incredible and the Reichstag is well worth a visit

I stayed in the ArtHotel in January 2000. Glad to hear it's still there. We had dinner in a restaurant on the roof or the Reichstag and went to a concert and some museums. Not beautiful but a fascinating city. I love it.
