Inspiration for multigenerational holiday

My parents are visiting from abroad for a month and we are thinking of going away on holiday for a week during the first half of Sept to spend some quality time with them and due to our house being pretty small and cramped to host for the whole time. Looking for some inspiration on where to go either in the UK or abroad (with flights from Stansted). It will be us, my parents (mid 70s) and 2 year DD so looking for something easy with short connections.

I'm not sure if what we are looking for exists anywhere. Would like to stay in a apartment or villa so we can chat in the evenings after DD goes to bed but within walking distance of restaurants to have the option of eating out or ordering in (cooking on holiday really stresses me out). Would love to have the option of swimming (beach or pool, doesn't have to be coastal). Want somewhere fairly relaxing but open to some sightseeing although probably not a full on city break as it just doesn't suit DD at this age. Parents are coming from the oppsite site of the world and they would probably prefer somewhere with 'European vibes' (in the sense of pretty old towns, historic buildings, pretty scenery) rather than just a pupose built resort town which could be anywhere.

No firm budget in mind but definately nowhere near Ikos level costs although it does look nice!

Our alternative is going somewhere in the UK but DD really hates the car at the moment which puts me off going very far so it would probably be the Norfolk Coast which is around 90 min away.

Any suggestions on what has been an easy and fun holiday with multiple generations?

The nicest one I have tried was at Beau Vallon in Guernsey. This is a series of apartments of different sizes. Easy flight although a taxi to the place is advisable. The whole location was a heaven for 2 year olds. There are rescue animals (can't pet them but can often go and see them), an outdoor pool (still lovely in September), an aviary, little playpark etc and green space. There are beaches you can visit (the nearest was ok but there are nicer ones too). The lovely thing was that we had apartments as a family and a 2 for grandparents. Tables and sunbathing options outside to congregate as well.
The restaurants nearby were not that numerous, but plenty in the main town. Possible also to visit the other islands by boat if you wish.

Fly to Palermo (Ryanair from Stansted), one hour is Cefalu. It’s a beautiful historic town with a beautiful old town with lovely restaurants, trattorias and cafes (and ice cream shops). A sandy beach which is perfect for a toddler and very shallow sea. Italians are super child friendly. Parents could also do a day sightseeing in Palermo.

it’s all very European, historic buildings, beautiful scenery and amazing food. September is still warm but not as crowded as kids are back at school.

Another option is Verona from Stansted and go to Lake Garda. You will also have water, scenery, historic buildings, boat trips, a lake and warm enough for pool time. Plus amazing food and lovely towns to visit (google Sirmione, Malcesine or Peschiera).

When we had small DC we used this website many times to find holidays that were suitable for both us and our DC and we never had a dud! If you have a good look around I'm sure you'll find something that suits as it has villas, apartments and hotels that are family-friendly.

Otherwise, Sicily is fabulous, but it will still be very hot in early Sept which might not be ideal with a 2-year-old. I think I'd be more tempted by the Atlantic coast of France - maybe around La Rochelle - which is a lovely French port town with masses of restaurants - or the Isle de Ré.

We had a lovely stay as an extended family on the island of Hvar just off the coast from Split in Croatia. We stayed at Valamar Amicor Green Resort which was on the edge of the main port town on Hvar.
After landing at the airport we caught a bus from just outside the terminal that took 30-40 minutes to the port in Split. From the port we caught a ferry to Hvar which took about an hour. We loved exploring the neighbouring islands such as Brac and did venture back to Split for a couple of days out.
