LEGOLAND anyone??

I have arranged with my sister and niece 2.5years to go for the day with my son - 18 months. I have just got this feeling I am going to speed the day chasing after him and not actual benefiting from the effort of being there? Or am I being silly and tight?

Anyone been and think it is a good idea?

It's an expensive day out, although I think your los get in free. There are vouchers on tetley's tea bags at the moment which will get 1 adult in free when another pays the full price. We went last week and had a ball although ours are 11 and 7! It looked good for los but perhaps more so when the weather is warmer and they can enjoy the water things in duplo world.

I think it depends when you are going - a sunny day in the school holidays or during term time. It opens at 10am and is relatively quiet then, getting busier during the day. If you can justify to yourself not spending the whole day there, you could leave when it gets too busy or the children get tired.

I took both the boys there one weekend, and it only got scary when DS1 raced off at top speed in the play area, and I just couldn't see both of them at the same time. With 2 adults of 2 children we would have been ok, and I was silly not to tell them both in advance to stay close, but they are older than your DS.

I think it's an expensive day out and they will be just as happy at the park at their age - up to you of course but keeping kids of that age happy in queues is not easy.

Eve34 · 30/03/2008 10:02

yes I will have to have my skates on for the day, we have a voucher and was hoping he would get in for free being a little one, aiming to get there around 10 and leave around 2 as I am sure we will of had enough by then, all being well it should be a good day going on 7th April first day of the hols as my sister teaches, must be mad.

Thank you for the info.

It's fab! Take a swimming cossie and a towel so he can play in the water area - we've had to shell out for their trunks in the past. I think you can use Tesco vouchers. We usually get a 'deal' from on of the local hotels which includes tickets. There are loads of things for his age.

ladygrinningsoul · 30/03/2008 19:36

Under 3s get in free.

CaptainUnderpants · 30/03/2008 19:55

The park actually opens to the public at 9.30 - the top bit will be open where the shops and cafe is then they make you wait until 10am to be let in to the rest of the park.

Head straight down to the bottom and then work your way up.

Beware that as it is in school holidays it will be busy.

Take your own food as it is expensive etc.

I used to love taking my kids to Legoland espcailly before they were school age , we live about 45mins away and had sesaon ticket .

Hope you have a lovely day

It's a fab day for little ones. Let them loose and enjoy.

We went to Chessington on Thursday, and it was practically deserted. Got on all the "big" rides with no queues at all and the option of going round twice at a time. Most schools (2/3 I read??) aren't on holiday yet, so this week would be a good time to go.

Thank you for that, know it is rather expensive day out for lo to run around and go on a few rides, but will be nice to see my sister and her daughter, so think we will give it a go, although not expecting too much. Was thinking I would take a pack lunch and drinks so should just be the cost to get in and get there.....

Just hijacking this thread, sorry!
Cornsilk, would you take cossie this time of year? We are going next week & wasn't going to bother, didn't think the water things would be open. We have only been in the summer before. Don't wan't to get there & have to pay for new cossies cos everyone else is in there.

MaryBS · 12/04/2008 16:33

I would only take cossies if its likely to be warm.

DontCallMeBaby · 12/04/2008 16:41

If it's not warm, but not perishing either, take waterproofs and spare clothes and do the water bit at the end of the day. We went in October and DD (and a couple of other little ones) had a whale of a time in the water area while other people looked on and laughed or tutted according to their inclination. She was in waterproofs but got soaked eventually - had to carry her back to the car wrapped in her fleece (which I'd taken off before she got wet) and my denim jacket. We had spare clothes in the car, it would have better to have had either then or a huge towel with us in the park.

We generally take towels and a change of clothing. If you want you can hire a locker at the beginning of the park - bearing in mind it'll cost you £1 every time you access it...
