Ryanair's bag policies...help!!

We are flying home at the weekend, and I have priority + 2 bags, so I have the 10kg small case allowed in the overhead locker, and a small underseat bag.

But I've been shopping (did not think this through!). I want to add a 10kg bag to check in.

When I go into the app it looks as though I can pay for that, but it looks like I then lose my on board 10kg bag.

Am I being thick?' If I pay to check in a 10kg bag can I also take my small case on board?

Ryan air have a phone number you can call for these types of questions. I had a medical bag added on and to be fair to them they were fab!

Section 8.3.3 here seems to suggest that indeed, if you pay to check in a 10kg bag, you cannot then take a 10kg bag on the plane. No idea why.

If you can't get that overturned by the call centre, you can book a 20kg checked-in bag, presumably for more money than the 10kg bag would have cost. There's no requirement for the back to actually weigh 20kg. 😎

It does seem nuts doesn't it.
I've tried to call them, I'll just settle in for a long wait with a cocktail to hand I think...! x

To avoid hanging on the phone I often access support via Twitter DMs (for many companies, not just Ryanair) and the help you get there is usually pretty good. Plus, unlike a phone call, or a chat window on the website which evaporates when you end the convo, you can keep a complete trace of the discussion. Some companies offer support via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger too.

If you are with other people then the nags are tagged to individuals and so if someone else on the booking has not got a carry on bag you can book an extra one for them?

So, for anyone interested, after a very painful morning I eventually managed to talk to a person, and eventually mabaged to get them to stop copying and pasting standard answers and actually listen to my question (aargh!)

So yes, it you have paid for priority 2bags, you have a 10kg bag in the overhead locker and a snall bag under the seat.
If you then go and buy a 10kg check in bag, you then have a 10kg cabin bag, and small underseat bag, AND a 10kg checkin bag, even though the wording on the bag-purchase page suggests otherwise.

Or, you can do this if you just want to check in your 10kg cabin bag, in which case you are still allowed both, but you just won't need the cabin one.

Confirmed by my new boarding pass, yes voth are on there.
What a bloody performance! But done. Hope this helps someone else.
