A Day out with Thomas - is it worth it?

I have a train obsessed toddler who would potentially love this but having looked at the location nearest me for this day out, it doesn’t seem like a lot would actually be happening besides the trains themselves, and for the same price we could go somewhere with more to do.

I was therefore wondering if anyone has done this recently who could share some insight into whether it’s worth the money?

We did it at Kirklees with my 3 year old a few years agi. He loved it and we had a great time. Well worth the cost. There were several thomas and friends trains to ride and different activities. Might be different in different places, of course

We did it at Didcot when my boy was 3, he loved it too! He was a bit sad after we went for a ride on Thomas, which i thought would be the high point, and it turns out he was upset because he tried to talk to Thomas and he didn't talk back. He got over it fast but could not have predicted that!

We did it when DS was younger and he loved it, check how many trains are at your location though, the one we went to had quite a few of the trains you could ride , Bertie, plus the fat controller, stories, a few other activities etc. Talking to other parents who'd been to other locations they'd been faced with just Thomas and a Bertie bus that just did a loop around a field!

I still remember the marvel and delight on my son's face aged about 3 or 4 when he saw 'Thomas'! Definitely worth it if they're old enough to know about the Thomas and manage the excitement of a day out. It's very much a young child activity though, those over about age 7 or 8 will probably not think it's uncool because there are so many little kids there

Have you considered Thomas Land at Drayton Manor nr Tamworth as an alternative?

I think it probably depends on the location and how much else there is to see and do. The one we went to had other trains to look at as well as a huge model railway that was included in the ticket. We loved it!

We did this with DS1 (now 16!) when he was 2 and Percy obsessed, he absolutely loved it! Not much in terms of activities really but we got to ride in carriages attached to Thomas and Percy, and most of all he got to see his favourite trains. If he's Thomas obsessed your DS will love it, and the length of time it's been going for is definitely a testament to its popularity!
