Dumb question of the day (please forgive me!) - Will my UK hair straighteners work in Canada?

Going to Canada for the easter school holidays and, amongst my list of things to find out, does anyone know if UK hair straighteners work in US. I know the power is 110V but does that mean straighteners won't function at all or just on half power? Have I got to get used to non-straightened hair for 2 weeks!

I'm hoping the power of mumsnet will have the answer!
TIA

You can try using them in Canada with an adaptor for US voltage. They may not be as powerful though.

If you really need them I'd buy one there and use that.

Thanks for the reply - thats what I was afraid off. Wish I'd got GHD's now......

Just got back from Canada three weeks ago and sorry, but your hair straighteners will definitely not work very well there. Mine were redundant for the whole 2 weeks. Luckily though, we were skiing so my hair was under a helmet all day.

I took my GHDs a couple of years ago to Canada and they kept cutting out all the time and weren't as powerful.
