Tips/advice for La Croix du Vieux Pont?

Hi All

As the title says, we've booked the La Croix Eurocamps in August (after the Olympics ends). I have two adventure-mad DC aged 8 & 11 and I'd love tips/advice off anyone who has used the site & surrounding area. In particular, is it worth trying for a day trip into Paris from the site (or will it be hell on earth)? What about the nearby theme parks or towns? Are the on site kids clubs any good?

Thank you.

We went and hired the log cabin for 10 days and the kids loved it. There’s a beautiful village walking distance from the site which we went to for market days and a bit of culture. I heard the Asterix theme park is better than Disneyland but I didn’t go. We drive to Disneyland for the day and it was absolutely no problem at all. The lagoon in the park used to be quite dangerous as there is a very steep drop in the middle. Unfortunately a teenage boy drowned while we were there but hopefully they’ve done a risk assessment and made it safer. Ps beware of the swans! They are not scared of stealing your food if your eating by the boating pond 😝

If Going for a mobile go with lifestyle holidays as you can pick your location and cheaper than the big companies. The Armistice Clearing (le Clariére de l’Armistice) is around 20 minutes drive away on the way to Compiegne, great for WW1&2 history. Soissons is 10/15 minutes the opposite direction with signs for those tree-climbing adventure places to the right. There’s lots of WW1 cemeteries around too. Parc Asterix is an hour away and absolutely brilliant, stop off in McDonald’s on the road back. Disney less than 90 minutes away.
This was our favourite campsite in France and even though my youngest is 17 we’ll still go back at some stage.

We stayed for just 3 nights in the way East a couple of years ago. I know it’s really popular but we didn’t love it. We had a safari tent on the banks of the river which was great. The beach bar was very loud at night. The pool was grotty and not amazing. Not much in walking or cycling distance. You would need to drive a lot to see much of the area.

There is loads to do on site though. Loads of kids playing football. There’s a bowling alley we used. If we had stayed longer we would have driven out for day trips. We did do Parc Asterix which was amazing. Queues not bad at all for mid August. The on-site bakery was good. Get there early for your breakfast pastries. It was very popular.

The site is massive with lots of open space. Bring bikes if you can.
