Morocco, all inclusive with teens

We are struck with a fancy to go to Morocco. We've never been before. Planning for Oct half term. Does anyone have any recommendations- with easy access to things to do. Our budget is approx £2.5k including flights. Not including spending money. We have been put off Marrakesh with all the reviews of being bombarded by street sellers. Essaouira and Agadir sound good, but would like to experience some Morocco and not just tourist hotspots. Thanks.

Not been but Nick Knowles did a train journey across Morrocco, was shown on Sunday or Monday nt, might be worth a look?

You've put "all inclusive" in the title of your post, but I'm not quite sure what that means in the context of the first post. The kind of hotel that includes three meals a day and all your drinks is definitely going to be in a tourist hotspot, and if you book an excursion to see the real Morocco there are going to be people when you get there who want to sell you stuff.

Agadir is the place for all inclusive resorts but it's an unlovely city in comparison with Marrakesh and Essouaira. I like Marrakesh and it's a good place to base for desert excursions which are great fun.

We have been to agadir and it’s lovely - you can stay on resort or do some excursions to see the ‘real’ Morrocco. We are heading back to Marrakesh in a few weeks and can’t wait. It’s an incredible country, we love it there.

If any of the teens are female they'll get hassled and/or will have to wear 'modest' clothing.

All women in Morocco should wear 'modest' clothing as it's normal for women there but that doesn't mean burkas just shoulders, bust and knees covered. Some places are bad for hassle but plenty aren't.

@MiltonNorthern I remember a teenage holiday in Egypt, years ago. It wasn't just men hassling me. Little boys would lie on the the ground to look up my skirt, e.g. if I was standing looking at a market stall. Went to India in my 20s, not quite as bad but bad. TBH, if OP has teenage daughters I wouldn't recommend taking them to Morocco.

Egypt and Morocco aren't the same place. I've never been to Egypt but from what I've read the harassment is significantly worse than in Morocco. I've been to Morocco many times and never heard or seen anything like you describe.

Essaouira was a bit too small for several days but have been to Marrakech a couple of times, plus the temperature is warmer in Marrakech in oct nov than in the seaside essaouira, where you can’t swim anyways.

Jamaa el Fna will be a tourist trap and the souks immediately around it, but if you wander deeper into them it’s less intense. Went to the north of the town to local people’s market and weren’t bothered by anyone. Be nice but firm when refusing offers.

No point paying for some shitty all inclusive, just pay for breakfast and then eat out in local places (do not eat at Jamaa el Fna!!) but you’ll soon find your local favorites. I think it’s very restrictive needing to be back in the hotel three times a day lol.

Iberostar palmeraie

has a free shuttle bus into town and can arrange excursions.

great place - would go again for what was offered!

We've taken our teens the last two years; Marrakesh the first year, Agadir last year.
We loved both, all inclusive both times.
Went to Riu Palace Taghazout last year, an amazingly beautiful hotel.
Marrakesh is beautiful, we were hardly bothered at all.
