Baby milk - Easyjet to UK . Also how to manage 3 kids on the journey on my own

I am travelling to the UK from Jersey over Easter with my 3 children. The youngest has just started weaning so I need to take some formula to mix with baby rice. Can I take the ready made carton?

Also any thoughts on travelling alone - ages 8/4/5m? Trying to physically juggle 2 suitcases, a buggy and the 3 car seats at the other end are worrying. Plus the 4 year old has a tendancy to wander!

Thanks

if the cartons are over 100ml, they make you drink some to prove it's not a bomb (or possibly just for a laugh). so if there is one with a screw cap, get that. If not, I always used to take bottles of water and those ready-measured sachets of milk powder. or just take ready mixed baby rice in a jar?

can you put the 8 yr old in charge of the 4 yr old?

finally allow lots of time. the easiest way to transport all the gear is to do a little relay - push the trolley a bit, then go back, get the buggy and push that etc. but usually someone nice helps you!

ok...

i have done

Me
12 month old (unable to stand by himself)
maclaren buggy
travel cot
group 1 car seat
2 big holdalls
a change bag
and a hand bag through london waterloo!

it wasnt easy but it was ok

i think you need to

  1. have good cases with a handle that you can drag VERY easily

  2. if you are that worried get a wrist link to attach 4 year old to buggy.... OR bribe him with chocolate etc if he is good but have a wrist link for if he chooses to make life difficult

  3. assume baby will be in car seat on buggy (travel system)?
put baby in 1st, then make 4 year olds car seat (one with a 5point harness?) on the buggy handles... (make the straps as big as they get and hook it on)
balance a light booster on the buggy hood
    handbag under the buggy
a rucksack on your back for hand luggage
push the buggy with one hand, use other hand to drag suit case
get your 8 year old to drag the other suitcase

  4. PRACTISE the above before you leave for the airport (you may find that a strap to hold a car seat on is just so helpful!)

I always use cool boiled water in the bottles, with measured frmula in one of those containers which have 3 compartments - it means you don't need to worry about keeping the feed cool, and it is easier to heat up, as you can just pour out an ounce or so of water and top up with boiled water. You may need to put the bottles in a clear resealable bag (I have had mixed experiences of this, but believe me, if you have 3 kids & a pile of luggage, it would be easier to have resealable bags to hand than not!)

For the plane - make sure you have books and colouring pencils. Make sure you get priority boarding when checking in.

As far as juggling goes: I would have baby in a sling, push trolley with 2 cases and 1 car seat. Get 8 yr old to push pram, with 2nd car seat in it. Attach strap / ribbon to pram, and get 4 yr old to hold on to it. As for 3rd car seat, surely 8 yr old can sit on a booster seat? If so, slot booster seat inside 1st car seat and carry it on the trolley, or put it under the pram.

Sorted. Easy!

We flew from London to Singapore and back again a couple of weeks ago. At check in at Heathrow they said it was 100mls of liquids, excluding babymilk. They seemed to be a bit more lax over the rules, tbh.

On the way back we had all sorts of liquids and Singapore wasn't the slightest bit bothered. The liquid rules appear to be for UK airports, so I don't know if Jersey would have the same rules as London (do you come under UK restrictions - I don't know how separate Jersey is).

Can you put the baby in a sling for the airport so you can put the buggy on the luggage trolley? At least that way you won't be juggling pushing trolley and buggy and controlling 4yo.

I'd suggest one suitcase with wheels, plus a large rucksac instead of two suitcases. Handluggage can then go over handle bars of pushchair. Or if your suitcase is a smaller one, with a pull up handle then you can then put your handluggage on top (some handluggage comes with a panel on the back to allow you to put the handle through it, though I've successfully put the straps of my small rucksac over the handle as well)

I always have small backpack for children (they carry) with colouring in book and a separate bag of crayons for each (try to ensure they both have the same colours to avoid arguing)

I also have in some building bricks - they have kept my two (now 4 & 6) entertained during journeys and hols for 3 years now.

So so helpful - thank you all

The ideas are great and I will give it a test run complete with baby sling and wrist strap for 'the runner'.

Lovehorses - building bricks are a great idea too.
