Can’t sleep on overnight flights

Does anyone have any tips on how to fall asleep on overnight flights? I can doze but I can’t sleep.

I’ve flown Economy, Premium Economy, and Business class with a bed. I just cannot sleep properly.

I have earplugs, noise cancelling headphones, a good comfortable eye mask, pyjamas etc.

I can only ever doze for about two hours before I wake up SO thirsty and sweating and or cold. Doesn’t matter how much I drink water and avoid coffee or food.

I’ve had otc sleeping aids (when living in US) and still I CANNOT sleep.

It ruins my first day of a holiday or I have to then build in at least a full day on the return to recover.

Diazepam. If you are scared of flying your doctor will prescribe it.

I'm not sure there's really a solution here, I don't think that anybody comes off an overnight flight feeling great, you just have to make the best of it and don't plan too much for day 1.

I'm the same. I only done overnight twice for that very reason.

I’ve nailed this, I use foam ear plugs, noise cancelling headphones, wrap myself up in a blanket including over my head, leave my seatbelt on, get my feet up as high as I can. I usually put a bag on top of the footrest in premium and put my feet on that, and move my chair as far back as it goes. I take a sleeping tablet half an hour before doing this.
I went to Mexico last month and on the night flight home I watched one film, ate some of the meal then went to sleep. The next thing the lights were on and it was morning.
For years I got restless legs, itching, fidgeting and basically no sleep.

We sacrificed one day holiday and opted for a day flight back from the US.

If that doesn't work we add a day and I choose a hotel with a spa or otherwise possiblitly to relax and catch up on sleep.

Like you I tried everything and nothing works, so I just try to get comfortable and read.

I don't either. I just kind of live with it and make sure to have a shower and walk in the fresh air as soon as I can.
