Mexico in September

Has anyone travelled to Mexico in September and not had terrible weather? Making the most of our time before we are trapped by school holidays and have found a couple of lovely deals.

I have been once before, in September and the
trip ended up a bit of a disaster. It rained the first four days consistently with a hurricane warning in place. I was young and without a care in the world so made the most of the AI and had a whale of a time still swimming in the torrential rain, but our trip was cut abruptly short due to a turn in health of a very close family member who ended up in intensive care. The days after the hurricane were promised with sunshine, but we never stayed long enough to see if it happened. So whilst tempted by the price I'm not sure about being trapped in a hotel room in the rain with two kids three and under. Is the rain a certainty or just a maybe.. I've risked Caribbean in rainy season before and had the odd rain shower, much like your Florida downpours, but in Mexico (Cancún) it seems to be a bit more of a guarantee.

Any insight welcome. Many thanks!

I've been to Mexico many times in September but to the Pacific coast, I wouldn't go to the Caribbean side due to weather.
The Pacific coast in September is very hot, humid and has storms but is also lovely.

We went to the Riveria Maya in September a few years ago and it was gorgeous. I think it rained for about an hour on one day. However, I hate stressing and worrying about the weather before a holiday. It kind of ruins the anticipation and run up to the holiday.

You also should be aware of the problems with Sargassum. We went in August one year and a hurricane hit land just below us. Crazy windy for a couple of days but mostly the weather was lovely.

I genuinely wouldn’t risk it.

You could have a week of glorious weather… or a week of weather far worse than here. With 2 young kids that would be pretty grim.

have a look at Turkey/Balearics/Portugal where you are guaranteed lovely weather and don’t have a 10 hour flight with toddlers either 😂

I wouldn’t risk it because of the weather and potential seaweed.
