Nice AI hotels on a budget…?!

I realise I want the dream here but here goes…

1 week, must be summer holidays (can perhaps miss a day and leave eg 19th July)
Fly from north/midlands
1 adult, 2 dc aged 10 and 12
All-inclusive or half board - not fussed about included but do NOT want to cook or traipse around restaurants with dc every night on my own
Food MUST be good - doesn’t have to be fancy, simple is fine but must be decent quality
Don’t want to hire a car so local amenities would be good although don’t want to do much sightseeing, this would be very much a resort holiday
MUST have decent pools and ideally slides etc
Nice beach would be good but not essential if hotel is nice enough
Not fussed about holiday clubs or sports
Some sort of entertainment would be good so I’m not sat in the room on my own in the evening, ideally I’d like to be somewhere with a bit of life so I could sit with a wine and maybe chat with people while the kids roam around. However don’t want to be bugged to join in with things!
Non-annoying fellow holidaymakers…is this the impossible bit?
flight times, travel times etc all flexible, very easy going kids used to travelling
Not fussed about accommodation, would like a little balcony but don’t need kitchen or separate rooms (although would be nice). Happy to all bunk in together.

Budget: ideally c £2000. No more than £3000. Will probably need a free child place to get to this.

And I know people will suggest it but not the UK and not Eurocamp etc. we’ve done that sort of thing before and I really want a classic hot and sunny package holiday.

Turkey? Comes in at £2016 for a week all inclusive. 5 star so food should be good. Leaves on 17th July so may have to take a day or 2 out of school or pay a couple of pounds more. ( Has slides too!)

Good find - it’s only £300 more to go from Newcastle on the 20th so pretty good. And I’m loving the reviews. That’s the sort of thing for sure!

We are going to Selectum Colours Bodrum

I’ll confess to feeling a bit unsure about Turkey even though the hotels look great and the prices are spot on for me. I feel like I’ve heard horror stories but is all that out of date?

Loads on jet2 flying from Newcastle or Leeds

Eden Roc, Rhodes

DO NOT trust the cheap 5* in Turkey… tried a few years ago (with TUI as well) and had to move out after one night due to how filthy it was

I've been several times, as a lone woman traveller, with family and with kids.

Turkey is great on a tight budget. Lot of AI in Side offering good deals. Cheap to get around on the local buses. And I've found the locals love children.
Don't know why people are iffy about going there.

Lordofmyflies · 25/02/2024 18:49

Problem is Eden Roc is coming in at anywhere between £4.5-£6K for a week in the school holidays - out of budget. I think with Turkey, Tunisia and Egypt in particular, you have to read the independent reviews. Local star ratings are not like ours! However, with great Tripadvisor or booking.com reviews, I think Turkey could be a great option for a budget fly and flop.

Again I'd say Turkey we've had some fab AI holidays there.

Charliebong · 25/02/2024 18:58

Went to Turkey last year, just me (single mom) and my 18 year old daughter. AI hotel was amazing and we had a lovely holiday. Don’t over think it, people will have good and bad holidays in Spain, France, Greece etc. Just make sure you read recent reviews.
