The York Castle Museum is fab, they would probably like the York Dungeons too. Railway Museum?

Jorvik is a bit short and overpriced but if your mil is paying....

What is her budget? There is a Travelodge really close to the city cntre and the Hilton is right opposite Clifford's Tower on Tower St.

We went at feb half term and had a great time!

York is fab - we spent the day there today.

Railway museum, Jorvik (agree overpriced), York Eye, Dungeons, DIG, walk the castle walls, shops, street entertainers.

The Royal York is nice as is Marriott.

The town centre is so compact that there are loads of places to eat.

Pizza Hut type places abound

what are the hotel options & i'll tell you where is best situated

PandaG · 25/03/2008 14:24

agree with york castle museum, has a fully recreated victorian and edwardian street - really interesting..lots of shop windows to look in from that time, toys etc.

or the dungeons if they are brave.

city centre is very compact, all walkable. the shambles (narrow street) fun to wander around and some interesting shops - maybe not so appealing for the DC though!

can't help with places ot stay, we always go for the day on the train.

There is a fab book store called BORDERS with a massive kids section and arets and craft stuff and a cafe to relax in.

I love York.

The Royal York Hotel is the easiest I think - right in the city centre and has a pool too.

yes it really has a big wheel!
