Lisbon hotel recommendations

The dreadful weather today has prompted me to book a short break in Lisbon for May half term! I’ve never been before so have no idea which area etc to look at for accommodation.

Generally we like to stay fairly central so we can walk as much as possible (though the Lisbon hills may scupper that!)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

We were there in September and just stayed in the Ibis (Centro Saldanha). It was a good price and very near a subway station so you could get to all the main attractions from there very easily. It probably is not walking distance although it was so hot when we were there we didn't want to walk too far.

The Zenit Lisboa was nice. Right by Saldahna metro and lots of lovely independent restaurants in walking distance. Its a couple of metro stops or a bus to the centre. The travel cards work on the buses, trams and metro.

We also stayed in the ibis in Saldana in January. Near a metro so great place to get around from

I went this time last year and stayed in the Martinhal Chiado - they’re actually serviced apartments, and you get a fridge and a washing machine too lol!

Nice and central, and close to the river too. Lisbon is quite hilly, but easy to walk around, and the trams are good fun too.

I was travelling solo, the hotel felt safe, and the fabulous Time Out Market was just 5 mins walk, perfect for eating out for me.

We stayed in one of the Browns! We walked or got Ubers for further afield

Thanks all! Sorry for the late reply, I’ll take a look at all your suggestions

Lisbon has a good metro system so staying anywhere near a station will get you around just fine.

The most central will be the Baixa-Chiado area but you may pay a premium for the location. We stayed near Saldanha, at Neya Lisboa, a 4* hotel which I remember being surprisingly affordable; the trade-off is that there wasn't much going on nearby, but it was only 20 mins on the metro to get into the centre.
