I’ve saved up to take the kids away (13,11,8) abroad and now I’m completely indecisive over it! I look at the alps, then Norway, then a city break, then Spain all inclusive…
Can anyone save me from googling my life away and not going anywhere?
We like so many different things, particularly good food and an interesting landscape but we have so little experience of getting away anything is wow tbh
Luckily we aren’t constrained by school holidays (home Education) so it all looks realistic to be a little cheaper

DH loves doing this sort of stuff so I’ve sent him working. He said for a bit of sun and kid enjoyment: Turkey

Cowboybuilderwoes · 18/02/2024 21:58

First attempt: DH very proud now. You didn’t give dates so he went mid March
£976
5* Club Hotel Sera in Turkey
All inclusive
flights from London Luton to Antalya.

Please tell us dates haha

Ooh I would choose from:
Lanzarote (great landscape!)
Portugal- Lisbon or Algarve
Somewhere between Cannes and Nice and visit places along the little train line on that coast
Paris, Barcelona or Madrid.
How fun for you :) hope you find something amazing!

DH has another option if you wanna go late April when temp is low twenties so good for hanging by the pool

Luton to Antalya
7 nights all inclusive

£734 all in

Basically Turkey is doable / cheap
otherwise I’d recommend Lanzarote as it’s such an easy one but I personally would say avoid H10 Resorts as went recently and was awful, pools all closed etc
Lanza is more expensive though

LivingRoomTiger · 18/02/2024 22:07

Ooooo thank you
I didn’t realise people would look!
Luton is a bit tricky, any other London is ok. Particularly Stanstead.

How’s Turkey for a lone female with kids? I haven’t been to get the vibe?

Have you checked Luton? Always sounds far, but only half hr train from King's Cross- St Pancras. And tickets as cheap as $3 one way! Stansted trains are way more expensive

Norway is super expensive, especially food snd eating out. You can easily pay £30 for a main course. I don’t think you can do it on your budget.
spain, Turkey or egypt AI is more realistic.

Oh I’ll look. Stanstead is just close enough I can usually get a lift . Thanks

I’m divide on SC. Some places are so little extra with food . I know the kids will be desperate to eat on and i was wondering if it’s the cheapest way, compared to eating out for 4

We used to manage Norway one night, it used to be so cheap on Ryanair we’d have a night in Oslo flying back from Poland (family in Ukraine) as it was cheaper than direct flights. They had these Rema1000 places a bit like Lidl

With 3 kids and alone I would go for AI over SC. No cooking or cleaning for you and they have tons of choice at every meal. And you too. I have one fussy eater and one who eats a ton so AI works super well.
