Holiday Park Suggestions!

Hi everyone!

I am looking for a holiday park, in Northern England/Scotland area….I’m thinking like a lodge style, with children’s entertainment etc? I’ve got a 6 year old and a 2 year old, so would love like a pool/plenty to do. Almost like a Center Parcs alternative?

Does such a place exist?!

Thank you! x

Kielder Waterside

Haggerston castle?

Althenameshavegone · 18/02/2024 07:03

For kids entertainment do you mean activities or a kids club mini disco type thing? Keilder waterside is lovely but a bit quiet, activities are more like pond dipping and crafts.

I have never been but hunters quay in Dunoon might be a good option

@mummy1202 im not sure that an exact CP alternative exists tbh! But I’m waiting and watching for others to give some ideas. Crieff Hydro? Hotel rather than lodges but does have self catering cottages on site too. Nice pool, lots of activities!

I would avoid Haggerston. We drove 4 hours to get there and had such a terrible time that we came home the following night (36 hours into a week long stay!). And we’re “let’s just make the most of it” type people 😬

Drinsynie - we went there

It's owned by Argyll holidays

Has the option to go canoeing/ abseiling/ canyoning/ paddle boarding

Lots of good walks nearby

The kids loved it

This is a really good park. The Campbells (Argyll holidays) sold it though it’s owned by Cove now. They also own the one in Dunoon which someone else has suggested, Hunters quay. Both lovely parks with plenty to do. Haggerston castle is good too and so is Craig Tara but they are less lodge holidays more caravan. Depends what your looking for I suppose.

We loved Crieff Hydro when we went a few years ago but it has only got huge cottages left for the week we have in mind.

A bit of both really, the kids would love activities and crafts but I was also hoping for a disco type thing!

Thanks for ideas and and advice already! Will get looking. Trip advisor keeps putting me off!

We are going to Whitley Bay Caravan Park, got one of the last lodges, £459 for 4 days. Was there when DS was a baby and loved the area. It's not the best of parks I don't think but we don't go for the entertainment so maybe not much help sorry! Visited Haggerston Castle when family were there and it wasn't for me, caravans all packed in together and too big and busy for us but I do have a DS with sen. This kind of goes for Craig Tara aswell though I do prefer it to Haggerston Castle. I have heard good things about Hunters Quay. We like to go places where is lots to do in the area.

Thornwick Bay? Not much for older kids but good when ours were young.

White cross bay on the shores of lake Windermere, I think it’s now a parkdean site.
I’m amused by the person above who thought Haggerston castle was crammed in, I fear they’ll be in for a shock at Whitley Bay!!
hunters quay lodges were quite well spaced out but the lodges were quite old fashioned and dated inside, and the caravan area was very crammed in.

I have been to Whitley Bay before and Haggerston is much bigger, wasn't for me at all.
