Ryan air trunki question

I've seen that children can travel with a trunki case even though it exceeds the usual dimension restrictions for bags.

Are they worth it? Can you fit a decent amount in?

Thanks

I think it does not fit in the small bag size limit for Ryanair, I have always had it as a large cabin bag so extra (included with priority) great until they outgrow it because they are too tall to ride it or clothes no longer fit inside depending on child's size, it was age 8/9 for us. It does meet the size limit for easyjet but I read somewhere there was change in policy coming up so it may fit for Ryanair too now, search in their website as it will say.

It says this - but just figuring out if they're actually any good

I suppose I mean are they good for actually packing luggage, or are they just fun for kids? 😅

I'd imagine they'd be a pain as they are hard shelled. Much better just to take backpacks

Mine had one and it was useful for them to sit on in long queues and a bit more fun for them moving along a line than standing/ walking!

I wouldn't recommend for carrying clothes though. The wheels area indents so the corners aren't flat and only 1 side has the elastic to hold things in place then you have to stack it up and balance then close if that makes sense?

Ours were for hand luggage and any toys being taken on holiday and it worked well for this as dc understood if it doesn't fit it doesn't go. To make it easier I put the 'toys' in a carrier bag so when it was opened for hand luggage colouring etc everything didn't fall out.

If you're thinking for clothes only unless you have a 2 -3 year old and are doing a very short trip to a hot destination (so not many clothes/ no chunky clothes needed) I'd go for a normal hand luggage case.
If it's hand luggage or car travel and you have space I'd 100% recommend- very strong too.

Great thanks all - this is confirming what I suspected, we'll need the space as hand luggage only so will go with normal bags

Hey @snowdrop27 i was just wondering did you take the trunki? Did it fit overhead as carry on?

Sunnydaysun · 05/07/2024 03:10

Yes it fits in overheads easily.

Trunki roughly fits dimensions. We have used it. Great for putting kids stuff in as it's spacious and kids love it. But the novelty of them riding it runs out about five minutes after arriving at the airport. It's cumbersome, a pain to open on a plane. Everything falls out.

Honestly get a small rucksack
