Anyone quite thrifty at finding flights?

February half term we are thinking if there is anywhere cheap and close to fly that is warm we'd happily take the kids away just for 3 days but using sky scanner I am having to think of places to search. I just want to see some cheap flight options and go from there.. struggling! Anyone good at this stuff and can point me in direction.. flying from Bristol or Cardiff

Feb half term will be difficult to find good value flights, especially from regional airports, but good luck OP, I hope you find some. If you want warmth Canary Islands are a good bet, we have been to Lanzarote & Tenerife during Feb half term many times and always had great weather. Have a great trip.

Use skyscanner as a good comparison site, I’ve found they usually have the cheapest listed.

KickboxingWanker · 04/02/2024 08:47

Depends what you class as warm lol
its really the Canaries or beyond for hot.

however Ryanair has Bristol to Faro Portugal for £31 return each 19-23 Feb

On Skyscanner you can use the Everywhere option to get ideas for cheap destinations.

Google flights is always a really good option for searching.

On the destination type in 'anywhere' and select the dates, bring up the world map 😁

I'm looking for cheap flights for sept 24, but couldn't find much on skyscanner.

BertieBotts · 04/02/2024 08:56

Look at further away starting points too. Manchester, Stansted and Birmingham tend to have cheaper options than Bristol or Cardiff. It might be worth the extra cost in petrol/parking or a train there.

No1HolidayPlanner · 04/02/2024 09:16

Ryan Air has a 'fare finder' option.

Bristol to Alicante £53 return 19-23 February- without luggage.

Looking around 20 degrees there currently 😊

In addition to skyskanner, 'seat61' has different ideas to get to places- other than flying. I have nectar points and have used them towards eurostar before.

If you were thinking longer haul, such as Thailand, a friend gets easyjet to Oslo, and flies to Bangkok via Finn air. Apparently it works out much cheaper than flying from the UK!

It depends what you mean by "warm". The coasts of Spain / Portugal /Sicily will have daily highs of 15° if it's cloudy and 20° if it's sunny, but you aren't going to be swimming in the sea, and it can get too cold to sunbathe after 3:30pm. If you want to lie by the pool with a cocktail then the only place you can go in "Europe" is the Canaries (even if geographically they are in Africa).

SmashingGemini · 04/02/2024 12:50

February half term is different in various parts of the UK. Ours (Midlands) starts 12th, others are the following week. Try an airport for an area that has different half term dates to you.

I'm a paid member of jacks flight club - there's also a free option. I get all the offers emailed to me as soon as they are in plus advice on putting together more complex trips.

Not necessarily, it depends on personal preference. I've swum in the Atlantic before in February (Algeciras) and it was fine. Mallorca in July I found far too hot. I'm off to the Costa Blanca in a couple of weeks and fully expect to at least have a dook in the sea.

I'm Scottish though.
