Costa Brava - specifically Lla Franc and Calella de Palafrugell.

Fly to Girona (or Barcelona at a push).

Costa Brava has some lovely towns. Tossa de Mar is one of my favourites, it's a lovely place for families.

Menorca would be my choice.

Cala Galdana is great, I've stayed there three times, once with my parents when I was 15, on my first ever holiday abroad without my parents when I was 18 and with DD when she was 10.

Thank you for all these!! I am very torn between all inclusive and bed and breakfast!
I am not keen on all inclusive at all the same food most of which is the same and then it all feels very rushed but then am I mental to consider not going all inclusive with kids? Look at Majorca Alcúdia/pollenca

I have given up! Been put off Majorca by the mozzie horror stories on google
And everything else is a million dollars for a package holiday in August god dam! What is the world coming too haha

Alicante with Airbnb.

Cheap flights are available if you book in advance.

2024withapositivestep · 07/02/2024 14:49

I was looking to book separate book then a few people have said your not fully covered insurance wise if you don't book a package ? But I've never heard that before

I've been to Mallorca loads of times at the height of summer, and not once been bitten. I'm a magnet for anything buzzy and bitey, so safe to say there were no mosquitos in my vicinity!

Puerto Pollensa is especially nice. Loads of restaurants and a lovely safe beach and sea. It is an expensive resort for accommodation though, and the transfer from the airport is a bit longer than ideal.

QueSyrahSyrah · 07/02/2024 15:02

If you book elements separately and (for example) your flights were cancelled last minute you'd have to deal with it yourself, cover additional costs yourself, probably lose the money for your accommodation, transfers etc and then have to claim it from your own travel insurance later. If you book a package then the package operator sorts everything out for you. All very well booking separately and saving a bit of money when everything goes right, but a package comes into its own when anything goes wrong.

We went to Javea when our kids were between 4 and 12. Always found a self catering apartment/villa with shared pool. Hired a car and visited lots of beaches in the area. Loved it!

Yes, Javea, Denia, Gandia, fablous and not touristy.

Since my two were that age (they are now 6 and 9) we have been going to Majorca. For us its perfect - lots of apartment complexes with pools, near wonderful beaches with shallow waters

Brycare · 07/02/2024 15:45

Agree with the recommendations re Majorca. Have been to Port de Pollenca three times with young kids. Really nice place with some lovely restaurants.
I have only been in June or late September/early October though.
I have also seen Santa Eulalia in Ibiza recommended in several places too.
Anytime I've looked into it I've found accommodation to be extortionate though.
There seems to be a much greater volume of private apartments in Port de Pollenca for some reason (they were good value because we travelled outside of the main season).

I have got my heart set on puerto pollensa just trying to find something in budget now x thanks guys putting my mind at rest

I can suggest Aparthotel flora - my 2 absolutely loved it last year

trying29 · 07/02/2024 16:17

In Puerto pollensa that is

hollyholliee · 07/02/2024 16:23

Does anyone know what Santa ponsa or palma nova is like / I think both are about half an hour from the airport

Brycare · 07/02/2024 20:55

We stayed in one of the Pollentia Mar apartments here. https://pollentiamarapartments.wordpress.com/
Great value when we stayed. Little bit pricier as you'd expect in July & August.
They're very nice though and literally 5 mins walk to the beach.
They also have a communal pool - we were the only ones using it on several days.

We have stayed there twice and the other time we stayed in a private apartment in the Bellresguard complex. This was also lovely. A little further out from the centre but still only about a 15 min walk.

I'd go back to Port de Pollenca again in a heartbeat - with or without kids.
Any more questions just shout.

Did you find it ok not being at a hotel like the food and the supermarkets close by etc ? Thank you ! I will have a look at that.

OP posts:
Brycare · 07/02/2024 21:25

Absolutely. To be honest we wanted an apartment rather than a hotel exactly because we had small kids with us (last time we went was in June 2022 and my two daughters were 3 & 5 then).
The apartment had 3 separate bedrooms, as well as separate kitchen and living rooms (a balcony off the living room also). Perfect for chilling out in when they need a break from the sun
There's a nice bakery about 5 mins walk away. We used to get croissants & danishes for breakfast and some baguettes for lunch and had them in the apartment.
We ate dinner out then in a restaurant every evening - there are some lovely ones.
There was a mini supermarket place about a ten minute walk away which had all the basics we needed (cereal for kids, ham, cheese, bread the usual).
We didn't bother with hiring a car because we were happy enough to chill out in Port de Pollenca for most of the time.
We just did 2 outings - once to Palma for a few hours and the other was to the inland Pollenca town for dinner (lovely town).
Both are an easy bus ride away. The bus station is no more than a 10 minute walk from the apartment.
