What sectors have cheap business class tickets?

I am looking to book business class flights for me and DC to go somewhere long haul in the summer - I have a planned surgery coming up, so keen to take business class if the fares work out.

I have been looking at all the airline sales, but nothing is really that cheap. So I am looking up destinations one by one. I don't mind taking 2 or 3 connections! What are some cheap destinations I can search for? Anywhere long haul (6hr+ from London) is good!

You need to start outside of the UK. Try Helsinki, Oslo, Paris, Prague, Budapest etc.

This is because UK tax on premium class tickets are some of the highest in the world. If you have two tickets and say, fly an hour to Frankfurt, overnight in a nice hotel there and then next day fly out business class you can save thousands.

Interesting.. thanks

More than 1 connection will make this a false economy. If you have 3+ connections, you're not boarding a swish big plane with a fancy business class, you're just sitting at the front of a little plane, maybe with more legroom and a possible free hot drink.
Business class on short hops is wildly different to longer ones, so avoid cheap flights with tons of connections or you'll be very disappointed.

I always take a budget airline to either Dublin or Amsterdam, then fly Business from there. If you take an early morning flight from the UK then you can take your next flight from lunchtime onwards.

Thank you. I have been looking at Helsinki (I love FinnAir) but fares aren't cheap in July. They have really good fares up to June though. Off to try Amsterdam, Dublin, Frankfurt and Prague. I think I will skip Paris (can't stand CDG).

We’ve done a couple of long haul flights out of Arlanda, Stockholm and one out of Helsinki via BA flights from the UK and had a couple of absolute bargains, might both be worth a look? We’ve then flown either Qatar or Singapore Airlines to Australia if that helps.

Frankfurt to Dubai with Emirates as its like mid haul but you'll still get the experience.

Are you signed up to the Jack's Flight Club newsletter as well? I'm sure they sometimes have business as well as economy flights in there

Now that's interesting. I'm going to look into that!

@forevernumb.
Slightly dated article but the one in the link at the bottom of the page might help.

Just remember the main stated intent of Uk Air Passenger Duty is to try and dissuade people from taking flights….in reality it’s probably encouraging quite a few people to take two flights rather than one…🙄
