Itinerary help - Andalucía with teens by train/bus in October

Planning on flying in or out of Seville and Malaga and getting overwhelmed googling. Have come up with the following basic plan by train, we can do 9-14 nights:

Seville - Cordoba-Grenada-Malaga (or vice versa)

We'd also like to see Ronda and Cadiz- what is the best way to plan it into our trip? By train or bus? Are they better as day trips from anywhere?

Thanks

Cadiz is easy to get to by train from Seville and definitely worth a few days (or a day trip at a push).

You can get to Ronda on either the bus or train from Malaga but it takes a few hours so you might be better of doing a tour if you’re only going for the day. They quite often stop at Setenil de las Bodegas on the way which is worth seeing. If you do have time though I’d recommend an overnight in Ronda so you can experience it without the crowds of day trippers.

I live in Andalucia so just shout if you’ve got any other questions.

I did this in February last year, not sure what time of year you are going. Anyway flew into Seville and out of Malaga, skipped Cadiz as had already been there. Then took train to Cordoba (fabulous place, I really liked it there). Then train to Granada. It is a BIG city and heaving with the residents (big Uni there), not to mind the visitors! Alhambra is amazing, but its BIG and up a huge hill, so take a bus or taxi up and walk back through the Gypsy quarter, and to the lookout point. You will find out all this online.

Then took train from Granada to Malaga. Also went to Ronda on the cheap lol. Took the bus from Malaga to Ronda. It was an interesting journey and not short!. But the scenery going up the mountains from San Pedro is something else. Ronda is fine, but not much to it apart from the (amazing) gorge and bridge, and lovely winding streets and shopping area. But it's a nice spot also. I did all this over 8 days and it was plenty for me. You could always have a few days in Malaga on the way back as it has its own beach and other resorts are nearby too.

Thank you :) We are going in Oct - am being far more organised than usual! Have booked flights now, in Malaga, out Seville so will start looking at accommodation. Useful to know Grenada so big and heaving, hadn’t realised! If anyone knows areas to avoid staying in Grenada, let me know as accommodation looks most confusing there. Also need to work out if we will do bus or trains, I understand buses are much cheaper.

Would you consider driving? The roads are great and it would give you a lot more flexibility

No, while our summer holidays usually involve car hire, we want this to be more of a travel /public transport adventure :)
