How do you holiday with a baby?

We are looking at travelling to London with our 2 kids.

Daughter is 4 and pretty grown up and Son will be 1yo and sleeps all night in his own room.

Without spending £1k a night on some apartment, what are the best ways to travel without trying to cram us all in a travelodge?

Any tips welcome!

How about Youth Hostels? Many have private rooms and some can even supply you with a cot.

Just get a family room in a hotel.

My kids are 15 and 11 and we still share family rooms in hotels.

You can always upgrade to a larger room if you feel it's necessary.

We always prefer an apartment/house rather than a hotel room when travelling with babies or toddlers. If you're all in one room then you can't really turn the light on or make much noise once they've gone to bed. Having a bigger room doesn't really help - we need to be able to close the door on the baby's room so light/noise doesn't disturb them. We have had to do it a few times for certain breaks but it's not really enjoyable. With older kids it's not such a problem as they'll go to bed at similar times to you.

Neither of my kids woke up once they were asleep if we put the light on or even watched tv. Hotel rooms usually have lamps or wall lights so you dont need a main light on.
