Nice problem to have - honeymoon planning

With a relatively generous budget - £4K per head for travel, hotels and half board lets say, where should I go???

I'm flip flopping between luxury but close by, and long haul and adventurous but really once in a lifetime (budget could be pushed for something really special). We are in 50's, reasonably ok heath wise but not fit enough for trekking in the mountains or similar!

Not Australia as we are going once we retire, not USA because done all the normal itineraries and some, and not good value. And not Sri Lanka, love it but been multiple times.

La Digue in Seychelles. Absolute heaven.

Wholeheartedly recommend Thailand. We went on honeymoon there recently for a similar budget. Look at The Naka Island hotel, absolute luxury for the end of our trip.

A friend of mine loved Mauritius and had a fantastic time there.
Malaysia, especially the Borneo, was an amazing experience for me several years ago.

My mum was a huge traveller and her favourite ever trip was to Costa Rica.

We went to Mauritius before our LO was born, I'd recommend it there if you are just wanting somewhere nice to relax ☀️

Do you want to do very little? Then a beach resort. Huge numbers to choose from! Time of year dictates where. MN loves Thailand and Vietnam. I’ve not been for years!

A bit more exciting would be South Africa. Inexpensive when you get there. The Garden Route is easy. Add in a safari. You could look at Namibia. An exclusive safari destination is expensive, eg Zambia and Botswana, but you will remember it.

You could stay at lovely places in Iceland.Plenty to see and do. Tour Scotland or Ireland. Have a look at Western Canada. You won’t have enough for bear watching in luxury wilderness lodges but you could look at Vancouver Island and enjoy what it has to offer. Unless you have been, of course. Also look at at Nova Scotia.

Try India. There are incredible places to stay. I fear Japan is pushing your budget but it’s amazing. You would need to really want to go there though and better places to stay do cost quite a lot.

Thanks a lot, I think Thailand tour (self guided I don't do groups!) then that hotel sounds perfect @3under. Costa Rica also tempting. Has anyone been to Mozambique? Seen pictures and looks stunning. We like to flop a bit but I need diversions too as I bore easily, found the Maldives a bit boring tbh and I could scuba dive then, my training lapsed years ago

Just reporting back ... we are going to India, it's a tour with a private driver and local guide at each stop. Looks amazing, 5 star hotels etc. but only b&b, our local guide will take us to local restaurants etc which I'm really looking forward to.

For anyone looking at similar style holidays look at Your Coop Travel, lots of deals that are more affordable compared to Trailfinders and similar. Budget wise we spend less than half!
