Hi lovely Mumsnetters

Just wanted some advice as got some anxiety about a trip I'd like to book in May -got a DH with a medical condition, 2 dds with various medical conditions and allergies so a bit overwhelmed about this.

Was thinking about a ultimate cabin in a Eurocamp south of France - any experience (good or bad) and tips ? Want to be close to airport so limited driving due to DH.

Also the holiday I was looking at flies out of Luton on Ryanair (only one flight every other day to Belize,France) is this risky what happens if flight cancels and what's your experience of Ryanair is it a bad idea?should I go with easyJet to another destination such as Nice?

Thanks so much in advance for your tips

How about looking for sites which have a doctor or nurse onsite. Some of the larger ones in Italy and Spain do, but haven’t found one in the south of France. In Spain we’ve stayed at Sanguli Salou which is very close to Reus airport and in Italy I’d recommend Marina di Venezia which is close to Venice airport.

I'm sure if you google it there will be statistucs on flight cancellations for budget airlines but you need to take into account disruptions beyond their control e.g. weather when interpreting them. I don't think Ryanair are any worse than other budget airlines, if anything I think they try not to cancel flights because they run to such a tight schedule with short turn around times that the knock on effect of cancelling one is huge. I've flown a lot with Ryanair, BA and Easyjet when I've commuted every week for work and the only one of the three that ever cancelled flights was BA!

If you book the site through Eurocamp, then find the flights you want on Ryanair, call up Eurocamp, they can book the flights for you, at extra charge of around £10 per person, then that makes it all package holiday and protected so if flight is cancelled they will help you rebook and sort accomodation out.

From a flights point of view, a route served by multiple airlines is always a more reliable option because in theory you can use a different airline (eg easyJet paid for dp to fly Lufthansa when their plane wasn't available for some reason). In your circumstances I would actually suggest opting for driving so you don't need to worry about flights - long overnight ferry to st malo and book Brittany or the vendee which are an easy drive, driving your own car which is easier than a rental imo.

Are you committed to flying out of Luton? Stansted will give you much more options. One adv of Ryan Air we have found flying to France is that they often fly into small airports so you are out and picking up the rental car in no time at all. So might be better if you have health issues to consider .
We can have flown to Tours, Nimes and Carcassone with no issues. Stayed on a nice campsite near Nimes, Domaine de Massereau. Nice cycle path to local town etc. Good activities on site.

I tend to search the Eurocamp site and then book directly as cabins can be better.
