Considering taking two of my teen daughters to Dubai over Easter. No clue where to begin regarding areas and best places to stay, so some pointers would be great. Is 10 days too long?

Have you looked at Fairmont on the Palm OP? Its at the base of the Palm so to speak so a 10 min cab to Atlantis or 15 mins to Downtown. They offer half board in a choice of 5 restaurants. No drink included but unlimited bottled water. and big rooms for families. You could easily do 10 days...a day at the souk/creek, a day on the dunes, Atlantis, the Mall, Abu Dhabi for Le Louvre or Yas Island, Burj, Fountains, Palace so much to do.

DJSteves · 19/01/2024 15:35

JBR over the palms. We are here now. You have the beach and the Marina. Best of both. I don't think I'd come for 10 days through. Maybe 7 if I was flying from the UK. ( we live in Saudi)

Hollwithm · 19/01/2024 17:01

@Lordofmyflies I've looked at the fairmount, can you access the waterpark also?

NotDonna · 19/01/2024 17:18

When you say JBR is miles out, miles out from what?

@Hollwithm Tickets to Atlantis Waterpark have to be purchased separately but it's very easy to do and there are often good offers online. The Fairmont itself doesn't have a waterpark attached to the hotel but does have 3 pools and a beach with dedicated swim zone. It's a good hotel for families at a reasonable price. We've stayed there twice. Its not 6* luxury but very very lovely.

My Foster Son went on a cricket trip to Dubai. He stayed at a Holiday Inn hotel. It had a swimming pool. He enjoyed it and had huge breakfast buffets with both cooked food and lots of fruit too. He visited a giant water park, went up the high tower and went on a desert safari as well as seeing some dancing water fountains shopping for souvenirs and obviously playing cricket matches each day. He enjoyed it so much he's going again next October. Check out temperatures before you book. It was very at the end of October.

I’ve stayed at Atlantis twice, the first time with my young teens and the second time with just my DH. We did a mixture of organised excursions and taxis which aren’t too expensive to different places. We went out nearly every day on both holidays as there is so much to do there. I went for four nights the first time and five the second.
I love Atlantis and could float around the lazy river all day, I also enjoyed the variety of restaurants there.
If I go back I fancy staying at the creek for a change.

JBR area does sound good @bert3400 how long did you go for? I’m looking at maps but it’s hard to tell how far places are from each other.

We were there for a week, that was plenty of time. Pretty much covered everything. For Atlantis Water Park, definitely recommend getting fast passes, the ques were very long but with FP you get to go on everything super quick. Nothing is cheap but we had an absolute blast with all ages (14-76, the whole family)

NotDonna · 20/01/2024 06:01

@bert3400 when you say “covered everything” what were those things please?

Also is the adventure water park better than wild wadi?

@DJSteves are you staying in a hotel?

The Jumeirah Beach Hotel says it has access to a private beach* the star for other things like watersports and spa denotes that it’s payable. So does this mean you have to pay for access to their beach?

NotDonna · 20/01/2024 06:09

@mnhq why do you keep blocking my very innocent posts about The Jumeirah Beach Hotel? This is the second time.

I stayed in JBR for six days, did everything I wanted to, Malls, indoor skiing, quad biking and a desert safari, marina, beach, pool. It was myself and my friend whose son lived there, it was enough time for me, but I don’t do lay down holidays.

I would have done the creek if I’d been there any longer.

I answered a question on Ramadan in Dubai in another post and it got hidden to check out. No rhyme or reason!

For what it's worth, we've stayed at the Atlantis a few times, mainly for the water park, and loved it. You could think about hiring a car or getting a driver and driving to Abu Dhabi to go to Ferrari World if your kids are into that? It's only about 1.5 hrs away and an easy drive. Loads to do there too so it would make a good day out.

Newchapterbeckons · 20/01/2024 06:47

I don’t think 10 days is too long, but you could do seven days in Dubai and three days in Abu Dhabi or the other way around. Abu Dhabi is stylish and has the Louvre. Dubai has a ski resort which is a fun contrast and a good afternoon out. Shopping malls for teens. Water sports and maybe you could have a few days in luxury tents in the desert. We saw a few camels and a goat 😂 so not an African safari by any means but the 4x4 was fun experience. It’s an easy flight and guaranteed weather.

Dinner at the Burj with the aquariums is very insta friendly!

NotDonna · 20/01/2024 08:25

I’ve no clue what I’m saying that’s offensive. I’ve not mentioned anything religious or about fasting. I have named the hotel I’m considering in all those posts (I think) but that can’t me misconstrued either. So bizarre!

Let’s see if this is deleted - I’m considering The Jumeirah Beach Hotel - any opinions?

That's a very nice, but old resort type hotel. Amazing beach Fine to spend a few days relaxing in and about 15 mins drive to downtown burj khakifa way and 20 mins to Atlantis.

The Atlantis waterpark is the best one.
